Renewable Energy sources in Ragusa

2. The Ragusa technological park
At the Ragusa site we use a wide range of technology for the production of
renewable energy:
• a wind farm;
• A flare gas plant, a power station that uses the waste gas from oil extraction;

3. The sun is used to produce energy.
We use advanced canopies that generate electricity by means of
photovoltaic panels.

4. Biogas and gas production plants from
wood pyrolysis
The extra heat is transmitted into a small district heating network for the air
conditioning of buildings in winter and partly transformed into cold water, with an
absorption system, for summer air conditioning.

5. The “green” light in the city of Modica
Nine thousand modern lighting
systems were installed.
The expensive old systems
were replaced with new ones
based on the distinctive
features of the territory. For
example, a color temperature
of 2,200 degrees Kelvin was
used for warmer lighting to
respect and enhance the
ambience and the architectural
charm of city rated as a
UNESCO heritage site.

6. Separate Waste Collection
In Modica, separate waste
collection has been practiced
for years to facilitate the proper
disposal of waste, the recycling
of plastic materials, paper,
glass and organic materials
that are used as fertilizer for
agriculture.

7. Our school "I.I.S
Principi Grimaldi"
follows the rules of
separate waste
collection, using bins
of different colors,
based on the type of
waste.
