2. What is EUSAIR?
The European Union Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) is one of the
four EU macro-regional strategies1. It connects8 states across the Adriatic and Ionian Seas
Basin and provides a framework for intergovernmental cooperation approved by the
European Council. Such cooperation contributes to the economic, social and territorial
cohesion.
The Strategy promotes sustainable economic and social prosperity in the Region through
growth and jobs creation, and by improving its attractiveness, competitiveness and
connectivity, while preserving the environment and ensuring healthy and balanced marine
and coastal ecosystems.
The EUSAIR is built on four thematic pillars:
1 EUStrategy for theBaltic SeaRegion, EUStrategy for theDanubeRegion, EUStrategy for theAdriatic and
Ionian Region, EUStrategy for theAlpineRegion
What is EUSA
What is Facility Point?
To facilitate the coordination and implementation of the EUSAIR by enhancing
institutional capacity of public administrations, involved in governance of EUSAIR, and
key stakeholders and by assisting the progress of implementation of joint priorities, a
strategic project FACILITY POINT has been developed within the ADRION
Cooperation Programme (under Priority Axis 4).
The Facility Point will provide the EUSAIR key implementers (Governing Board and
Thematic Steering Groups) and key stakeholders the necessary operational and
administrative support to facilitate good governance of the implementation of the
EUSAIR and its Action Plan and to ensure greater involvement of the public
administrations and other key stakeholders in implementation processes.
3. What can Facility Point do for you?
It provides:
COOPERATION SPACE - a platform for relevant stakeholders and EUSAIR
governance structures to jointly discuss and tackle common challenges of the
macro region;
ACCESS TO KNOWLEDGE - learn about the macro regional territory, good
practices in tackling specific Strategy related challenges, share your own
experience;
ACCESS TO INFORMATION - find out about funding opportunities for Strategy
relevant projects, join EUSAIR thematic events and be informed about all other
activities on implementation of the EUSAIR.
Why should you participate in the EUSAIR?
CONTRIBUTE to solving important issues related to the blue growth,
environment, transport, energy and tourism;
GET INSPIRED and share solutions with organisations dealing with similar
challenges;
