The document outlines an idea for a short film about a recurring nightmare. In the nightmare, two young girls are seen playing on a swing and humming a nursery rhyme. The film will cut between shots of the sleeping woman experiencing the nightmare and scenes from the nightmare itself. As the nightmare progresses and the woman becomes more distressed, the shots will get shorter. Upon waking up, the woman will write about the nightmare in her diary and draw a question mark, expressing her confusion. The last shot will show the swing moving alone without the girls present.

2. OUR IDEA
It is about a reoccurring nightmare.
In the nightmare there will be two young girls playing on a swing whilst humming a nursery
rhyme
There will be several cuts between the two scenes of the women sleeping and the what is
going on in her nightmare
In the shots of the women you will see her become distressed by the nightmare
She will wake up and turn her side lamp on
She gets her diary from under her pillow
As she starts to write, flashes of the nightmare will be seen again- these will be shorter
that the previous shots.
She will then draw a ? In her diary- to show that she is confused
In the last shot, the girls in the nightmare would have disappeared and it will just be the
swing swinging.

We were inspired by the se7en opening for the following reasons:

The way they replaced the ‘v’ for a ‘7’

The dark lighting

The length of the shot-fast
We were also inspired by American horror story for the following reasons:
• The sense of mystery
• Cut between different clips
• Credits- on a black background and they flicker.

We were influenced by the conventions in the ‘Women in black’ such
as:
• Children
• Costumes- old fashioned white dresses
• Dolls
• Enigma code
• Nursery rhyme
• Dark lighting

5. RESEARCH
We will assign our film to Hammer productions due to their big budget
and their success with horror films
We have decided to give it the classification of 15 as we believe that a 12
year old would not understand the storyline. However it would not be
an 18 due to the lack of sexual violence, blood and gore.
