Attracting and addressing
target audiences
Evaluation question 5
Micro-aspects
The four Micro-aspects are:
Mise-En-Scene
Editing
Filming
Sound
These are vital when trying to attract audiences
because it can be adapted to what they would want
to see when watching the film.
 Cars:
In our opening sequence, mise-en-scene
is vital so we used an Audi A1 rather
than using a car of less value, this
therefore might attract a young affluent
audience, in order to show this we
used a close up shot on the Audi
logo,as well as this, in this shot we
made sure we incorporated Dom’s
gold watch which once again would
effectively provide the idea that the FBI
agents have a lot of money which
could possibly give the opening
sequence a wealthier audience.
Another way we showed the cars, was
by using a long shot when they arrive
at the train station.
 Smoking:
Our main character, Skyler is seen
smoking in his monologue throughout
the opening sequence,this could
possibly attract a rebellious youth
audience,Because it would be the
youth it meant that they have a better
word of mouth and also they are more
likely to share there opinion on social
networking websites so it would
provide a review therefore this would
increase the size of the audience.
Our camera shots covered the cigarette so
that the orange flame would contrast
the dark background of the shot.
 American accents:
In our opening sequence we chose our characters to have an American accent,
this meant that it would provide a bigger demographic audience and more
relatable for americans not only English people. Also by having an American
accent it provides the idea that our opening sequence is made by a bigger
company and a blockbuster so more people would be willing to watch it
because blockbuster films have a bigger target audience and people expect
it to be better which is what we wanted our film to be.
Also, We gave our characters American accent so that our film would
differentiate from other people and audiences would want to watch a film
which is not the same as everyone else’s.
Sound
 The music we have chosen has an eerie feel to it which adds to the
suspense of the film, this therefore would attract and address the target
audience as we have chosen an audience of 15+ who enjoy the scare in
films, so by having the music it makes our film look like it is going to be
scarier so it people may want to watch it because that is the style of film that
they enjoy.
