ESTABLISHED in NOVEMBER 1992 by parents of seriously brain injured children
VITA is volunatry, non-profit, national, representative disability organisation
It has public inportance/interes in health, social and culture
MEMBERSHIP: brain injured people and their parents, realtives, experts and
supporting memberes
OUR seat of association is in Ljubljana, but we also have branches in Koper,
Jesenice, Novo mesto , Kočevje, Celje, Maribor, Murska sobota

5. Sources of funding
• Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs (the day care
centers), Ministry of Culture, MJU Institute for Health, MSS
(Ministry of school and sport)
• Employment Service of Slovenia (public works and other
programs)
• Municipality of Ljubljana (Public Works, program DC),
• Municipalities: IG, Koper, Kočevje, Murska sobota…and
others, Celje, Maribor, Jesenice…
• Foundation of disability and humanitarian organizations, FIHO
(horseback riding, swimming, excursions and operation)
• Other: membership fees, contributions from members,

6. Goals
• Reintegration brain injured persons into society
• Eliminate communication barriers
• Enable injured people to represent themselves and their
interests by themselves or with help of others

system that will help the injured and relatives

8. Activities in network of day centers
• Network of day centers’ daily program includes
protection/care, work, learning and therapies in
Ljubljana and Kočevje, wich is funded by Ministry
of welfare, Fiho, and Municipalities: MOL,
Kočevje
• Daily activities: creative workshops, lifelong
learning,therapies, protection and care, work,
sport, leisure activities
• Creative workshops (painting on silk, paper, glass,
various products and greeting cards)
• Yoga and massage
• Studying foreign languages: English, Spanish,
French

22. Camps
• Throughout the year we perform many different
camps: in the spa, on the farm, nearside the
river, at sea. The camps attend members and
their families. If they need help and assistance
they get help from employees, volunteers and
students.
• Family camps are organized at spa in rented
holiday homes with possibility of swimming and
implementation of therapies
• Vita association with BIF cooperation organizes
once a year annual camp abroad

26. Home help and personal assistance
• We perform home help and personal assistance
in different places throughout Slovenija with our
employees and volunteers.
• The association has employees who work for the
implementation of assistance and help at home
in the afternoon or in the morning and, if
necessary, during the weekend. Help is carried
out as monitoring injured people during
activities, such as: walks, visits, events or
workshops.
27. Residental community
• Vita Association implements program of
residental community since 2006, at first on
Zakotnikova 9, last year we opened a new one
on Jakšičeva 7 in Ljubljani

GYM –exercising in the morning at 9.00-9.30
CERAMIC workshop: kneading clay, designing products, burning clay
MUSIC therapy: singing, playing instruments, knowing Slovenian folk and popular music…
DANCE therapy: dancing in group, learning dance steps (Slovenian polka, valse, and other
dances)
• KNITTING /WEAVING BASKET – group of 2/3 making a basket with a volunteer
• ORIGAMI-making intersting designs from paper, paper folding
• Exercisings of breathing-how to breath more efficiently
• Kinesiology-exercises for good balance, coordination
• Knowing the culture of other counties (Cyprus, Turkey, Poland, england) within
conversation with other who will be our guestes –interaction in english…
(proposition: each country should introduce their attractions and speacialities, their habits and
culture…with simbols, stories, photos…)
• Theater workshop-making dolls, make a story...
• Painting on glass
• Introduction of Judo sport for disabled people
