Outline
• Outline
• Activity 1: Investigating food packaging
• Activity 2: Analyzing food packaging materials
• Activity 3: Evaluating the impact of food packaging on the environment
• Activity 4: Researching food packaging materials
• Activity 5: Designing a protective packaging
• Design Project: our project consist of two bowls one large and a small one inside
it we are going to put the wire and turn it on, the water between the two bowls
will start boiling and it will heat the food
• Product Idea: Our product call (Food Heater) This project specifically for people
who stay long time at the work it uses for heating food quickly with boiled water
FOOD PACKAGING
• Packages are used for protect food. Packaging can play
important role in reducing waste. It can be many types like (
plastic trays, bags, boxes, cans and wrappers )
• Food packaging was made of stones and animal bones in
the past and with the days and years the materials develop
with the scientists.
• We have used what we have learned from the activities to
design our own food packaging.
Activity 1:Investigating food packaging
(Objectives)
• On this activity , we will discover what the bag of the
microwave popcorn is made of.
• Discover what is inside a microwave oven.
(Procedure)
• We had discovered about the bag of microwave popcorn and we
discovering that it consist of susceptor patch.
• (susceptor patch) :-
is a thin piece of metalized film
on the bottom of the bag that focuses the microwaves so they
will heat the corn.
(Results)
• We had discovered the inside parts of the microwave oven.
It contain of :-
1. Stirrer
2. Microwaves
3. Magnetron
• And when we open the popcorn bag the heat will comes from
up to the susceptor patch to focuses microwaves .
Activity 2:Analyzing food packaging materials
• This is our second activity with Albairaq and we are going to analyse
what is inside our grocery bag
• We are going to list three types of foods in a data tale.
• Data tale for analysis of food packaging materials.
• Packing Mass (g)
Product Mass (g)
• Product mass = (package + Food mass) – Package mass
Type of food package Materials used in
packaging
Purpose of each material
• Batook chewing gum • Wax
• Carton
The wax protect the
carton from liquid
• Mountain Dew • Aluminium
• Tin plate steel
Activity 3:Evaluating the impact of food
packaging on the environment
(objectives)
• We are going to decide which package is the best for the
environment.
• We will examine several different types of packaging
(procedure)
• The packaging that has the lowest mass is the one that requires the
least amount of materials and energy to produce.
• packaging that made of recycled materials help reduce waste.
Reduce, Reuse

(conclusion)
• A lower number means more efficient packaging.
• Reduce, Reuse, Recycle are the importance of deciding which is the
best package for the environment.
Activity 4:Researching food packaging
materials
• We are going to decide which grocery bag is more environmentally
• Packaging that is recyclable are made from recycled materials also help
reduce waste.
Activity 6:Designing a protective packaging
• We are going to design our own package by using simple material.
• We will compare different materials.
• We have noticed that scientists have developed protection in some
food like eggs packaging , tomato, etc…
• PART A:-
• Comparing different materials.
• Materials be tasted by :-
1. Perforated foam sheets.
•
• Good protective materials have following properties.
• They are soft and flexible enough to cushion the tomato and absorb the
energy of impact.

• Part B:-
• Designing a protective package
• The materials we used:-
1. Corrugated wrap
2. Perforated foam sheets
3. Biodegradable packaging
4. Tape peanuts

Design Project
Objective
• Each group have to design a project to preserve food. The project
have to be designed by the requested and needed from the people
• We are going to design our own project it called (Food Heater)
Procedure/prototypes
• We design this project to make something new and benefit for the
people and we try hard to let our product such as we planned.
• Our project is not complete yet, put we need to support us and help
us to develop this project. It’s designed from simple materials, but
we strive to develop it.
• And here you can see our project. It made of a metal like ,it will be
more helpful to convey the idea of our product
Product Idea
Food Heater
• For our project there is an importance needs of Qatari society and other
societies.
• We have attracts for this project because it’s useful and easy to use and a
lot of people need this project in their life and we are from these who need
this project.
• This project is special because it was experience and reliability of it’s result
and it have many featured properties.
• We have been interested in this project because it helps to heat the food
and keep it for a long time and keep the temperature.
• Our project have a promising future, but after the development and achieve
all project changes.
• Aim of the work (objectives)
• The most important aim to reach it from our project is to achieve
what people need
1. Heating food
2. Keep temperature
3. Use it any where
• Hypothesis
• We suppose from our project to succeed and work like we designed
it. Because it holds all what community needs.
Food Heater
Our product story
• Through our participation in the al-bairaq we learned how to save
food and packaged in a healthy and cheap package and can be
recycled and not harm the environment, Albairaq team helped us
during the workshop to get ideas and also think of new and useful
ways , and we were able to design a project save and heat food , we
called (Food heater)
Food Heater
• The benefits of our project is to heat the food and maintain it’s
temperature for long time by poling water. We have designed this
project to solve the employees problems who work for a long time
also students need this project to heat their food in a simple way and
quickly. We don’t know the result yet If our project will solve the
problems or no! So we need to try this project in the people.
Results
• We were able to workout with this project it has been useful and we
have reached the goal.
Conclusion
• We hope that this community benefits from this project because it
meets their needs and it’s useful and easy to use and transport.
Recommendations
• We advice to improvement this project it have to be :-
1. More helpful
2. More protection
3. More than one size for different places and people
• Our project need more protection to avoid the problems from the
project because it contain boiled water so it really need to
improvement.
Conclusions
(Overall)
• Cooperation in the work is the primary means for the
success of such projects and the division of labor between
the members of the group have a significant role in the
completion of the project in a shorter time and accurately,
and through our cooperation in the making of a portfolio of
food enables us to create this new idea that will help a lot of
people, especially employees who spend most of their time
at work
