ABSTRACT
Whilst the work we do is not meant to be hanged on a wall for people to admire, nor is meant to be put in a drawer and forgotten about. Just as we make the products and services we design easy to use, the UX of UX is about communicating your thinking in a way that ensures that what you've defined is easy to understand for the reader. It's about adapting the work you do to the project in question and finding the right balance of making people want to look through your work whilst not spending unnecessary time on making it pretty.

This workshop is suitable for anyone starting out in UX, or who's worked with it for a while but is looking to improve the way they present their work.

The notion that education prepares you for the rest of your life is flawed. Rather, education helps you develop the lifelong learning skills that will help you to be responsive to change as it happens.
It might be argued that, public confidence in higher education has been declining steadily as the gap between the 'relevance' seen (by students, communities, and commerce) between what students are being prepared for and the lives they are going to live.
I wanted to ask the question (perhaps a little controversial)
Are tertiary institutions innovative (something several claim to be) or are they simply doing the same things they have been doing for years, just using different tools?
Are we preparing students to be ethical, able participants in communities - online and face-to-face?

At FutureFest, Ian Forrester will explore the cutting edge research the BBC is conducting into the future of media. Ian will discuss a media which fuses the best of the internet with the rich history of storytelling. His session will investigate the contradiction of this new type of storytelling that borrows extensively from ancient methods of communication; one which uses different data to actively shift and change the media for the enjoyment of the unknowingly participating audience.
This new world comes with a number of difficult ethical considerations, and BBC R&D is working with university partners to explore the constraints in an open way. Ian will set the scene of what's currently possible, some of the moon shot ideas and where they have drawn the line to date.

Sometimes it’s difficult to have the self-assurance needed to tackle having some of the difficult conversations that are part and parcel of your work – particularly with the high level of Impostor syndrome that many product managers experience.
It turns out that silencing the inner critic is part of the foundation for cultivating the courage needed to have difficult conversations with more confidence. As a bonus, getting rid of the mean inner voice additionally enhances creative problem-solving, innovative thinking, and collaboration skills – three items that Product Managers have to use everyday.
