The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

2. EXPLORING THE RATIONALE:
When focusing on PDHPE as a KLA, its focus explores:
Community awareness surrounding the importance of living a healthy
lifestyle is constantly developing. This increased awareness can to lead
to an improved quality of life, less sickness and healthier personal,
family and social experiences. This starts at school!
PDHPE is a key learning area for primary students as it encourages an
understanding and valuing of self and others, promotes physical
activity and emphasis informed decision making leading to effective
and responsible action
3. PERSONAL TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
CONNECTIONS PDHPE
It is my belief that PDHPE is an essential element of the overall
personal development of K-6 students.
PDHPE provides students with the knowledge to better understand
personal health, whilst providing them the tools needed to implement
this knowledge in their own lives.
Within my own teaching practice, I will create an inclusive learning
space so that all students feel supported and want to become included
in all sports.
4. STAGE 1 FOUNDATION STATEMENT
OVERVIEW
As this assignment has concentrated on on stage 1 year 2, I have focused my
theory solely on this stage. In saying this, I advocate all stages and believe each
stage encompasses vital aspect of education and should be integrated into
teaching and learning programs.
The PDHPE syllabus provides foundation statements which aim to clearly outline
the knowledge, skills and understanding that students should develop during
each stage.
Fundamental Movement and Physical Activity
Stage 1: Healthy Choices – Students participate in physical activity and are taught
the importance of choosing to lead active healthy lifestyles. Healthy choices
relating to food, sun safety and personal safety are also explored. Students learn
to make healthy choices relating to personal safety around roads, at home, on the
way to school and near water.
Self and Relationships –
Students learn to identify and describe differences between them selves and
others. Students also developed and understanding of the body and how the body
changes and grows. Finally, students explore different types of relationships and
identify the skills needed to develop and maintain positive relationships.
5. STAGE 1 STRAND OVERVIEW
Each strand in the PDHPE syllabus focuses on encouraging students to
make informed decisions in regards to their own personal development and
lifestyle choices. Each strand provides the foundation for a lifelong
commitment to healthy living and explore inclusivity in the classroom. These
factors contribute to the importance of PDHPE in K-12 education.
Stage 1 Strand Focus:
I: Interpersonal Relationships: Students develop skills in the way in which
they interact with others. They develop ways too communicate, care and
cooperate with others.
2: Safe Living: Students learn to identify that their safety depends on the
environment in they are in and the way that they behave.
3: Personal Health Choices: Students learn to recognize the importance of
positive health choices and the way that these choices affect their own
wellbeing.
4: Gymnastics: Student develop skills in completing sequences of basic
movements.
6. STAGE 1 STRANDS CONTINUED..
5: Growth and Development: Students learn to describe the
characteristics that are similar and different to others.
6: Games and Sport: Students learn the skills involved in fundamental
movement in minor games using equipment.
7: Dance: Students develop movement skills and patterns,
incorporating them into simple dance sequences.

enjoyable and is also important for health through participation in
physical activity.
