Six Sigma is a set of tools and strategies developed by Motorola in 1986 to improve quality by reducing defects. It aims for nearly flawless processes, with 99.99966% of products free of defects. Six Sigma follows the DMAIC model - Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control - to first define goals, measure current performance, analyze root causes of defects, improve the process, and control future performance. Many companies have successfully adopted Six Sigma and seen benefits like sustained success, enhanced customer value, and accelerated improvement rates.
