 refers to the art and philosophy of interpreting the
meaning of an object
 Is used to interpret the meaning of lived
experiences and communicate the interpretation
textually of symbolically.

● Emphasis on a phenomenon to be explored
● Exploring a phenomenon with a group of
individuals who experienced it.
● Researchers bracket himself or herself out of the
study.
● Gains textural and structural description of
phenomena.
● Culminates by discussing the essence of the
experienced phenomenon.
