1) I live in the Kalahari Desert in Africa as part of a family group of 10-15 meerkats. 2) As a meerkat, I am 25-35cm tall, weigh 600-960gr, have a tail that is 17-25cm long, and play different roles like look-out, babysitter, or hunter for my family group. 3) We meerkats live in burrows that we dig very quickly with our front legs, cuddle together at night to keep warm, and can have litters of 4-5 babies.

Hominids first appeared around 3 million years ago in Africa. Early humans like Lucy were small hominids that walked upright unlike apes. Later groups like Homo habilis could make stone tools. Homo erectus controlled fire which allowed them to cook food and expand their range out of Africa. Neanderthals and Cro-Magnon man were skilled hunters and tool makers that populated Europe and beyond. Cro-Magnon man are notable for their cave paintings found in places like Lascaux, France, though the purpose of these paintings remains a mystery.
The stone age
1) Early humans like Homo sapiens emerged 100,000-400,000 years ago in Africa and were nomadic hunter-gatherers who used simple stone tools to find food and shelter.
2) Starting around 10,000 BC, humans began farming and domesticating plants and animals, leading to the Neolithic Revolution. Villages like Catal Huyuk in Turkey grew to house thousands as people specialized in jobs like farming, weaving, and pottery-making.
3) The Neolithic Age from around 8000 BC to 3000 BC saw further agricultural advances as people engaged in practices like slash-and-burn farming and raising livestock. Permanent settlements replaced nomadic lifestyles.

- 2. Hello, I’m Sunny. I live in the Kalahari Desert, in Africa.
- 3. The Kalahari Desert is in Southern Africa covering Namibia, Botswana and South Africa.
- 4. I am 25-35cm tall and I weigh 600-960gr. My tail is 17-25cm long. A mother meerkat can have 4 or 5 babies. We live up to 10 years
- 5. I like eating insects, insects larvae, beetles, lizards, snakes but my favourite is a scorpion snack
- 6. We love our family, we are 10-15 meerkats in a family. 2 or 3 families live together so meerkats live in groups of 40.
- 7. Everybody in the group has a role The look-out The babysitter The hunter
- 8. We live in burrows Meerkats love digging holes. We can dig holes in the sand with our front legs very quickly. The holes can be 3metres deep.
- 9. Meerkats sleep cuddled to keep warm at nights.
- 10. This is the most famous meerkat. He was an actor in the film ‘Lion King’. Do you know it?
