Diego Velázquez was a Spanish painter active from 1599-1660. He is best known for his portraits of members of the Spanish royal family. Some of his most famous works include Las Meninas (1656-1657), a portrait of King Philip IV (1628), and Surrender of Breda (1634-1635).
