This document provides an overview of the Science English course offered at Kochi University of Technology in Japan. The course is designed for first-year undergraduate engineering students and aims to develop their English skills while teaching basic scientific content. It integrates content-based instruction with a four-skills language learning approach. Key course elements include classroom instruction, language lab sessions, individual and group projects, and supplemental digital materials accessible via iPods and an online learning platform. The course runs for one semester and is divided into units focusing on various science-related topics to build students' English proficiency.
This document outlines the reasons for learning English for academic and professional purposes, as well as the strategy and execution of an English course. It discusses how language plays an important role in thinking, communication, social life, and academics. English is important for professionals for quality, satisfaction, and marketing. The strategy involves considering psychological, sociological, and resource factors. The course structure includes introduction, grammar revision, vocabulary, and common usage lessons. It provides details on schedule, fees, and location.

The document outlines several health assessments and tests conducted by doctors and at a play school camp, including:

2. Children's diet, oral care, height, weight, and diet assessments at a play school camp.
3. Parents' health assessments including BMI, height-weight ratio, blood pressure, and cholesterol tests at the play school camp.
Cancer is a disease where abnormal cells divide uncontrollably and spread to other tissues. There are over 100 types of cancers, including leukemia which is a cancer of the blood cells. Leukemia occurs when blood cells don't die when they should, causing extra cells that crowd out healthy blood cells and form tumors in the bone marrow.

The document discusses the process used by an institution to evaluate the attainment of program outcomes (POs), course outcomes (COs), and program specific outcomes (PSOs) for its degree programs. It describes collecting evidence of student skills and accomplishments through direct and indirect assessments. CO attainment is calculated based on student performance levels in a course. PO and PSO attainment are determined by combining direct and indirect assessments, with 70% weight given to direct and 30% to indirect methods like surveys of graduates and alumni. An outcome is considered attained if its achievement level meets the target level.

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

1. Background
Kochi University of Technology is a public university in Kochi Prefecture, Japan. There are five engineering departments (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical/ IS, materials) and a Core Studies Department that provides 1st year students with a foundation in mathematics, physics and languages.
English language education at KUT
KUT English Department offers elective courses from 1st year to Ph.D. The two first year courses, Science English/Science Lab and Reading/Listening I/II each runs for one semester (at KUT each semester is split into two quarters). 1st year courses are part of the core curriculum (which also includes Physics and Mathematics).
Science English - pedagogical rationales
Given the levels of L2 competence among freshmen entering the KUT language program there is a need for a course teaching basic scientific content that will act as a bridging point to more advanced technical academic English courses. Also a need for practical L2 learning activities that will provide motivation for and promote interest in language learning among KUT students.
Science English - syllabus overview
Integrates a 4-skills approach with content based instruction.
- Developed for lower intermediate level EFL undergraduate learners in science and engineering fields.
- Initial language input through instructor presentation; language is then practised by learners hrough text-based, classroom activities in each of the four macro-skills. Language is recycled and reinforced in subsequent units. Text-based activities are supplemented by interactive activities accessed through IPods and a MOODLE CMS website.
- Learners then apply those skills to complete a series of practical individual and small group projects.
Science English - other info
- Groups: ~35 (mixed M/F 1st year engineering undergraduates).
- Schedule: 30 x 60 mins classroom sessions (50% classroom/50% language lab).
- Assessment: Typically 6 x paper-based unit tests; 4 projects; presentations.
