The MATE project is a European Union-funded initiative coordinated by MMC Cyprus that aims to promote intercultural skills acquisition and social inclusion among local and foreign students. It involves partner organizations from Cyprus, France, Greece, Austria, Spain, and Sweden. The MATE project will develop online tools and training materials to evaluate and improve intercultural skills, combat hate speech and discrimination, and facilitate events for students to network across cultures. It seeks to engage students from different backgrounds to participate in focus groups, workshops, and online communities to promote diversity and understanding.
A cultural route planning training was held by Folkuniversitetet in Uppsala, Sweden on October 19th, 2018. The full-day training included a lecture and practical workshop on creating new cultural tourism routes based on cultural footprints. The goal was to strengthen competencies in culture and tourism fields. Seven representatives from the local tourism sector participated. The training director said they received important feedback to incorporate into their Nordplus Adult project, which aims to strengthen competencies in culture and tourism through informal education on creating cultural footprint routes over two years.
Folkuniversitetet developed an innovative toolkit for vocational education and training (VET) providers to support quality management systems for students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The toolkit includes quick assessment tools to help VET institutions evaluate and improve their programs for ADHD learners. Testing of the toolkit was positively received. The toolkit was created as part of the Q4ADHD project, funded by the Erasmus+ program, to develop quality assurance standards in VET for students with special education needs focusing on ADHD.
An awareness raising event was held by Folkuniversitetet in Uppsala, Sweden to inform about the results of the Q4ADHD project. The event presented the project's objectives, activities, and main outputs including a compendium of good practices, quality assurance framework, and toolkit for training learners with ADHD. Participants found the outputs useful and praised the guidelines as complete and practical. The director of Folkuniversitetet's Department for International Cooperation said participants were inspired by the results and expressed interest in future collaboration.
This document summarizes a 2-year project called "Human Rights in Practice" that was funded by the European Commission's DAPHNE programme. The project aimed to prevent violence related to harmful practices by including awareness training on human rights and the Istanbul Convention in language training for newly arrived immigrants in participating countries. This benefited newly arrived immigrants in language training, language training center staff, and immigrant NGO staff. The results were a new approach to training immigrants on human rights upon arrival, expanded language training to include human rights awareness and training, and new cooperation between language centers and immigrant NGOs on human rights issues. An international conference was held in Uppsala, Sweden to discuss challenges and solutions regarding integration in Europe from various perspectives
The ‘We Go!’ partnership has developed a training toolkit. The toolkit is based on the research data from all of the partner countries and is tested within project pilot activities.
The ENABLE project aims to develop a smart learning environment to prevent early school leaving. The environment will focus on student participation and empowering their self-awareness to personalize learning. Director Ali Rashidi says the technology-based environment will harness students' creativity and willingness to learn through experience. The goal is to support the European Union's strategy of enabling young people to develop their talents and skills to be competitive.
The document promotes several coding events taking place from September 9-10 at FOLKUNIVERSITETET in Uppsala, Sweden. The first event is a web technologies course for 18-24 year olds to learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and SQL. Two additional events are train-the-trainer sessions for teachers of children aged 8-11 and 12-17 to learn how to teach coding. All events are free and registration is requested.
This document summarizes a project focused on quality assurance in vocational education and training for learners with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The project is led by Sofia University in Bulgaria from 2016-2018 with partners from Sweden, Greece, Spain, Italy. The project aims to develop a quality assurance framework and toolkit to support inclusive vocational education and training for ADHD learners. Key outputs will include a compendium of good practices, quality assurance framework, and training toolkit. The project seeks to improve inclusive education opportunities and guarantee equal learning and employment chances for ADHD learners.
The Department for International Cooperation at Folkuniversitetet in Uppsala, Sweden has developed a new training course for employees in the tourism and hospitality industry. The course consists of a curriculum, training materials, and an online platform designed to improve social and cultural awareness skills. The first draft will be piloted in spring. The director of the Department says the course addresses a gap in Sweden for developing these skills in tourism and was created according to European standards so it can be used by various groups.
1) The ISOLearn project aims to improve accessibility and social learning for hearing and visually impaired students in higher education institutions across Europe.
2) It provides practical guidelines and quality indicators in a handbook to help higher education institutions design accessible learning methods and tools for impaired students.
3) The handbook and quality label will help universities develop more accessible courses and programs to improve the enrollment rate of impaired students and their employment opportunities.
The developed guidelines are meant to facilitate a participatory approach in quality initiatives based on EQAVET indicators adapted to national conditions. The approach should motivate and engage the VET-providers in quality initiatives cycle based on EQAVET.
An international conference on violence, honor, and revolution towards gender equality took place in Örebro University on April 26-27. The conference focused on human rights issues related to violence against women, including honor crimes and harmful practices. It was attended by 175 delegates from over 15 countries. The conference featured performances, speeches, and a film on topics of gender, honor, and violence. It concluded with a panel discussion on revolution and violence.
Graça Gerardo assumes the presidency of ACAPO National Board, succeeding Ana Sofia Antunes. Around 30 ACAPO board members and staff attended training on fundraising. Around 40 ACAPO leaders attended a two-day session to improve management skills and efficient institution management. Training sessions on youth employability were held in Lisbon and would be held in Oporto, Braga and Coimbra in December and January for visually impaired youth aged 18 to 30 who are unemployed or seeking first jobs.

8. Steg i projektet
Steg 1: Första gemmensamma möte för 10 föreningar från Sundsvall,
Borlänge, Uppsala, Mora, Västerås (27 november i Uppsala)
Steg 2: Utbildning i DLM modellen och praktiska metoder för integration.
Utbildning kommer att anordnas av Folkuniversitetet för 2 föreningar på varje
ort (1 dag under december 2012)
Steg 3: Erfarenhetsutbyte: resa till Holland (2 dagar) för att se hur DLM
modellen funkar i praktiken och att träffa invånarföreningar i Holland (januari
2013)
Steg 4: Varje förening ska testa DLM för integration under några månader
och ge feedback till Folkuniversitetet (17/05/2013 – 31/01/2014).
Folkuniversitetet kommer att utveckla en plan för test individuellt med varje
förening så det inte blir belastning i fråga om tid och resurser men snarare
hjälp. Test aktiviteter kommer ske i form av studiecirkel.
Steg 5: Erfarenhetsutbyte: resa till Spanien (2 dagar i maj 2013) för utbildning
och träff med Röda korset i Spanien och invandrarföreningar
Steg 6: Erfarenhetsutbyte: resa till Grekland (2 dagar i februari 2014) –
