COVID19 - Risks and opportunities in Telecom Sectoreveris
Ā
The COVID-19 health crisis has produced the biggest economic crisis in the recent history.
By the moment, the Telecommunications Sector is one of the least affected sectors. The real impact that could be achieved is still unknown and the threat of a future resurgence puts all sectors of activity in check.
It is necessary to take measures that prevent future risks and help us to find opportunities for growth in a new reality. The current context is also an accelerator and stimulator of transformations and latent changes in the Telecom Sector

This presentation, created by Syed Faiz ul Hassan, explores the profound influence of media on public perception and behavior. It delves into the evolution of media from oral traditions to modern digital and social media platforms. Key topics include the role of media in information propagation, socialization, crisis awareness, globalization, and education. The presentation also examines media influence through agenda setting, propaganda, and manipulative techniques used by advertisers and marketers. Furthermore, it highlights the impact of surveillance enabled by media technologies on personal behavior and preferences. Through this comprehensive overview, the presentation aims to shed light on how media shapes collective consciousness and public opinion.

Guardian
ā¢ Average turnover loss estimated over 2020:
50%
ā¢ Most companies are SME and regularly fixed
cost is high
ā¢ Governments asking people to stay at home
results in direct turnover loss, especially in
retail/shopping areas
ā¢ Spring season is usually a turnover boos,
this is lost this year
ā¢ On-demand & route business increased for
many businesses(!)
ā¢ Dry cleaning (luxury & formal wear) is down
but wash & fold remainsā¦(!)
2. Corona impact
19. Impact on hospitality laundry
ā¢ Turnover loss: 80-100% all around the world
during lockdown
ā¢ After lockdown: average loss over 2020
estimated at 50%
ā¢ Lost turnover will not catch up in 2020
ā¢ Individual, national leisure tourism will
restore fastest with longer after-summer
ā¢ Business tourism (individual) will follow
ā¢ Group tourism will recover slowest,
especially for business (events are
postponed)
ā¢ Travel agencies report much less bookings
ā¢ 2021 will surely show negative effects as
well
2. Corona impact

ā¢ Direct grant of 4000 euro per company
ā¢ Up to 90% of wages paid by government (depending on
turnover drop
ā¢ Freelancers get minimum wage + access to loans
ā¢ SME companies get 6 months delay in payments for loans
22. Conclusions:
1. Worldwide same kind of problems
2. Globally intensified appeal to governments
& stakeholders
3. Hence need for more positive profile of
PTC internationally
23. The Corona Impact
Period until May:
ā¢ Strict measures
ā¢ Lock down
Period from May:
ā¢ Exit strategies
ā¢ Loosening measures
ā¢ Re-starting sectors/companies, public transport, schools
24. The Corona Impact
Period from May:
ā¢ Hospitality: re-start of restaurants, beach pavillions, museums,
movie theatres, campings, holiday resorts
ā¢ Healthcare: more room for regular treatments/surgery
ā¢ Accurate/intensive monitoring
ā¢ Increased spreading of virus: back to more strict measures
China was first with exit policy
26. Experiences from China; exclusive interview
ā¢ 25 Jan to 10 Feb all shops closed (Chinese new
year)
ā¢ By mid march (1 month later) 95% of direct shops
opened and 80% of franchisee shops (limited
opening hours)
ā¢ Government encourages shops to open again,
including some restaurants
ā¢ Provide employees with PPE (masks, gloves &
protection clothes) & adapt standard procedures
for hygiene safety
ā¢ Check employees for temperature every day
(37.3ā is the limit, when higher go home)
ā¢ Clean communication to customer about
hygienical clean procedures
ā¢ Turnover restored fairly quick, e.g. Shanghai
shops had 90% of turnover in March same
period in 2019

37. Main issues:
ā¢ Safe working procedures for employees
ā¢ Delivery of hygienical clean corona free textiles
39. In RTC, we are used to remove spots and stain and fresh up
garments. We know what to do and we are good at it!
Now, customers demand hygienically clean laundry.
And all kinds of new question pop up:
- What is hygienically clean?
- What is a hygienically cleaning process?
- How can we guarantee hygienically clean garments, as
hygienically clean is not visible?
Corona free laundry
40. What is hygienically clean?
Hygienically clean is that no or only a limited number of bacteria
(most guidelines focus on bacteria) are present on the garments
and laundry after cleaning.
These guidelines vary from country to country. Guidelines
describe the maximum number of bacteria (expressed in c.f.u.)
allowed per surface area of the product after cleaning.
So, hygienically clean is not the same as sterile (= no bacteria)!
What is hygienically clean?
42. COVID 19 virus can be destroyed in laundry processesā like
most other enveloped viruses - by
ā¢ Thermal disinfection or by
ā¢ Chemo-thermal disinfection
If methods are not available:
ā¢ Store textile for 5 days in marked, closed bags
Disinfection
43. WHO and CDC Thermal
Disinfection formula
The WHO guideline for COVID demands a
process of 25 minutes at 70Ė C.
Note: But calculations show that it is
economical to carry out shorter processes at
higher temperatures
44. In RTC, 3 types of cleaning processes are applied:
1. Laundry processes
2. Professional wet cleaning
3. Dry cleaning
RTC processes
45. Laundry processes
COVID 19 virus can be destroyed in laundry
processesā like most other enveloped viruses -
by thermal disinfection or by chemo-thermal
disinfection
Thermal disinfection standards for laundry can
vary greatly from one country to the other
46. Some textiles canāt be washed at the high temperatures ā like
required in thermal disinfection ā of 70-90ĖC
Disinfection at lower wash temperatures can be achieved by
dosing a disinfecting agent in the washing process
So the answer for lower temperature washing is:
Chemoāthermal disinfection
Laundry processes
47. Disinfection can be assured IF the washing processes applied and
the final level of product hygiene are in line with national
regulations and internationally agreed standards and procedures,
e.g. Cerclean
Proper documenting, validating and monitoring of process and
product quality is required to enable a guaranteed level of
hygiene
ļ± Note: Most of the hygienic processes are based on applying
Per Acetic Acid containing products (which could affect
garment quality!)
Laundry processes
48. Laundry processes
Wash parameters of processes that deactivate
Bacteria and Viruses have to be exactly followed:
ā¢ Time and temperature
ā¢ This defined temperature to be present during the
full main wash time
ā¢ Concentration of the detergent and disinfecting
bleach
ā¢ Bath level
49. Professional wet cleaning
The remarks made for a hygienical laundry process, also
hold for Professional Wet Cleaning, but additionally :
ā¢ Thermal disinfection is not possible, as this no doubt will
damage the sensitive textiles for which this process is
meant
ā¢ Disinfection is only possible by using disinfective agents
ā¢ Be aware that a most of these disinfective agents are
based on applying Per Acetic Acid containing products,
which could have negative effects on sensitive textiles
ā¢ Please contact your detergent supplier for dedicated
advice!
50. Dry cleaning
For Dry Cleaning, only limited data concerning hygienical effects
are available. No formally approved dry cleaning processes are
available.
Important:
ā¢ A standard dry cleaning process in PERC or HCS is not a
hygienically cleaning process
ā¢ A standard dry cleaning process in PERC or HCS does not
disinfect
ā¢ Adding a disinfective agent is required to achieve disinfection
ā¢ Always consult your detergent supplier for dedicated advice
ā¢ No data available for other solvents
