          Introduction
 Brief introduction of the organization
 PHD, established in August 2005 by a group of youth and
  students, is a non-political, secular, non-profit, and local non-
  government organization. Its sub-degree was signed on October
  7, 2005 by the Ministry of Interior.

 PHD works with and for young people to create positive social
  change by improving and promoting youth participation in
  confronting social issues in Cambodia through works with the
  Cambodian government and local communities to promote
  sustainable development, poverty reduction, and positive
  attitudes regarding human rights, gender relations, health
  education, and youth empowerment.

Description of the intervention

 PHD’s experience working for many years with young men to
  promote to prevent and respond to GBV by increasing male
  university students’ awareness and understanding of
  gender, gender-based violence (GBV), masculinities, and
  sexual and reproductive health (SRH). awareness and GBV
  prevention.
 PHD will focus on providing affirming messages in gender,
  masculinities, power dynamics, and SRH through training,
  promotion activities, and mass media in order to increase
  men’s participation and responsibility for preventing GBV.
Description of the intervention

 PHD will encourage young university students to become
  involved in activities to empower and protect women
 PHD will work closely with university management teams to
  enable students to access information and to participate with
  existing networks.
 PHD advocates and creates an enabling environment for
  various stakeholders to support youth activities to ensure
  correct social concepts about gender, gender-based violence
  (GBV), masculinities, and sexual and reproductive health
  (SRH)
Target

  The project aims to work with young male
 especially young university students between
 ages 18-24 year olds

  These activities foreseen in this component
 will reach 5,000 young people (75% men) at
 three universities in Siem Reap province and
 3 universities in PP city through all of the
 awareness-raising activities.
Results
 There were 90 young university students between aged 18-
24 will have increase their knowledge by participating to a 3days
life skill education sessions

 There were 1000 young university students between aged 18-
24 will have increase their knowledge and understanding through
gender dialogues sessions

 There were 1000 young university students between aged 18-
24 will have increase their knowledge and understanding through
mass media awareness through online communication (
facebook)
Results
There were 2000 young university students between
aged 18-24 will have increase their knowledge and
understanding by participating the 16days White
Ribbon Campaign

 There were 1000 young university students
between aged 18-24 will have increase their
knowledge and understanding through peers face to
face talking and sharing information
Location
 The project will be implementation in
Phnom Penh City and Siem Reap Province

The project intervention will be carried out
in the University Partners Based in PP City
and SR Province)
Calendar of implementation


 The project will be intervention from
on May 2012 to February 2013
M&E
 The project will develop a monitoring and evaluation
  (M&E) framework for the project, including a
  performance measurement system with agreed
  indicators


 The framework will include designing and conducting
  pre- and post-test questionnaires, aimed at collecting
  qualitative and quantitative information on the
  prevalence and incidence of GBV, while an emphasis
  will be placed on measuring changes in knowledge and
  awareness, as well as in help seeking behavior.
M&E
 Monthly meeting with peer leaders will be conducted to
  monitor the promotion activities and providing technical
  backup. This will be done with the assistance of
  selected university office staff.
 The project will conduct a final reflection workshop with
  the university management teams, trained peer leaders,
  and students to reflect on the project impacts and
  capture lesson learnt in order to inform scale up and
  replication of the current activities, and future
  programming.
Costs

  The project cost amounts10,000 USD included
   Admin cost 25% and project cost 75%

  • 1. Good Men campaign Friday 17 February 2012 [People Health Development Association (PHD)] [Male involvement to prevent gender based violence ]
  • 2. PHD organization Brief Introduction  Brief introduction of the organization  PHD, established in August 2005 by a group of youth and students, is a non-political, secular, non-profit, and local non- government organization. Its sub-degree was signed on October 7, 2005 by the Ministry of Interior.  PHD works with and for young people to create positive social change by improving and promoting youth participation in confronting social issues in Cambodia through works with the Cambodian government and local communities to promote sustainable development, poverty reduction, and positive attitudes regarding human rights, gender relations, health education, and youth empowerment.

PHD organization Brief Introduction PHD aims to work with young people especially young male, such as university students Currently, PHD are working in PP, BTB and SR Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Provincial Department of Women’s Affairs UN-Trust Fund through CARE International Organization and UNFPA
  • 4. Description of the intervention  PHD’s experience working for many years with young men to promote to prevent and respond to GBV by increasing male university students’ awareness and understanding of gender, gender-based violence (GBV), masculinities, and sexual and reproductive health (SRH). awareness and GBV prevention.  PHD will focus on providing affirming messages in gender, masculinities, power dynamics, and SRH through training, promotion activities, and mass media in order to increase men’s participation and responsibility for preventing GBV.
  • 5. Description of the intervention  PHD will encourage young university students to become involved in activities to empower and protect women  PHD will work closely with university management teams to enable students to access information and to participate with existing networks.  PHD advocates and creates an enabling environment for various stakeholders to support youth activities to ensure correct social concepts about gender, gender-based violence (GBV), masculinities, and sexual and reproductive health (SRH)
  • 6. Target  The project aims to work with young male especially young university students between ages 18-24 year olds  These activities foreseen in this component will reach 5,000 young people (75% men) at three universities in Siem Reap province and 3 universities in PP city through all of the awareness-raising activities.
  • 7. Results  There were 90 young university students between aged 18- 24 will have increase their knowledge by participating to a 3days life skill education sessions  There were 1000 young university students between aged 18- 24 will have increase their knowledge and understanding through gender dialogues sessions  There were 1000 young university students between aged 18- 24 will have increase their knowledge and understanding through mass media awareness through online communication ( facebook)
  • 8. Results There were 2000 young university students between aged 18-24 will have increase their knowledge and understanding by participating the 16days White Ribbon Campaign  There were 1000 young university students between aged 18-24 will have increase their knowledge and understanding through peers face to face talking and sharing information
  • 9. Location  The project will be implementation in Phnom Penh City and Siem Reap Province The project intervention will be carried out in the University Partners Based in PP City and SR Province)
  • 10. Calendar of implementation  The project will be intervention from on May 2012 to February 2013
  • 11. M&E  The project will develop a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework for the project, including a performance measurement system with agreed indicators  The framework will include designing and conducting pre- and post-test questionnaires, aimed at collecting qualitative and quantitative information on the prevalence and incidence of GBV, while an emphasis will be placed on measuring changes in knowledge and awareness, as well as in help seeking behavior.
  • 12. M&E  Monthly meeting with peer leaders will be conducted to monitor the promotion activities and providing technical backup. This will be done with the assistance of selected university office staff.  The project will conduct a final reflection workshop with the university management teams, trained peer leaders, and students to reflect on the project impacts and capture lesson learnt in order to inform scale up and replication of the current activities, and future programming.
  • 13. Costs  The project cost amounts10,000 USD included Admin cost 25% and project cost 75%
