They were all built during the Old Kingdom, so that the greatest remains of Ancient Egypt are also some of the earliest to have been built! The first Pharaohs built simpler tombs, called mastabas. 3. Mummies A mummy is the body of a person (or an animal) that has been preserved after death. A mummy were any Egyptian who could afford to pay for the expensive process of preserving their bodies for the afterlife. The Egyptians believed in life after death. They believed that they had to preserve their bodies so they could use them in the afterlife.
4. Pharaohs Who were the Pharaohs? Pharaohs were the king or Queen of Egypt. Most pharaohs was men but some pharaohs, such as Cleopatra, were women. A Pharaoh was the most important and powerful person in the kingdom.. The people of Egypt considered the pharaoh to be a half-man, half-god. The Pharaoh owned all of Egypt.
5. How were mummies made ?? It took a very long time, from start to finish, it took about 70 days to embalm a body. The priest in charge would wear the mask of a jackal representing the god Anubis. The body was washed The organs got taken out only the heart was left in the body The body was stuffed The body got covered with salt After 40 days the stuffing got taken out The body got covered with linen The body got put in the coffin.
