1. Introduction
 Seed sowing or inline seeder machine is a device which
helps in the sowing of seeds in the desired position
hence assisting the farmers in saving time and money.
 The basic objective of sowing operation is to put the
seed and seed in rows at desired depth and seed to seed
spacing, cover the seeds with soil and provide proper
compaction over the seed.
 This project will discusses different aspects of seed
sowing machine which will be helpful for the agriculture
industry to move towards mechanization.
1.1 Background of inline seeder machine
 Ethiopian farmers have been using an oxen drawn
plough known as the Marsha for thousands of years.
Most of the components of the plough are wooden
except two pieces: the ploughshare and a tying unit.
 It is cheap and simple but Its depth of operation is low,
crop productivity is very low with the traditional
farming systems.
 Now a day’s modern agricultural machine are being
imported into the country. But they are used by few
organizations, small agriculture investors and few rich
farmers.
1.2 Problem statement
 The traditional farming system, due to tossing of seed
lots of seed will get waste as well as the fertilizer and
seed will not get distribute properly and lots of resources
and manpower required for seed sowing.
 due to this way of sowing productivity of the farmer is
not enough to satisfy the peoples of our country.
 Hence there is a need to avoid this problem using
machine.
1.3 Objectives of the Study
 General objective:
The main objective of this project is to design inline seeder
and plougher machine for wheat seed.
 Specific objectives:
 To design the motorized inline seeder machine.
 To design seed sowing machine that can be operated by
the single operator.
 To design a machine that ploughs and sows at the same
time.
 To Draw 3 D model of the machine.
1.4 Scope and limitation
 The scope of this project is up to design and 3 D
modeling of the machines.
 And the limitation of this study is we could not do
prototype because of lack of materials and time.

 The aim of material selection in design is to create
products and components that perform properly under
operating conditions.
 The following factors should be considered while
selecting the material:
 Availability of the materials,
 Suitability of the materials for the working conditions in
service, and
 The cost of materials.

Working principle of the machine
 The working principle of the machine is based on the
power transmission from the motor to the shaft by belt
connection
 Then adding the wheat seed on one hoper and adding
the fertilizer on the other hopper after this starting the
machine by start the motor and the power is transmitted
to pulley and then to the shaft.
 The furrow opener plows the land as well as the seed is
dropped by the distributer having the bucket at its
periphery which takes the seed from the hopper and
drops in to the furrow.

Conclusion
 Generally this project work is done for solving the
problems stated at the problem statement.
 In the analysis part, it is concluded that most of the
dimensions and parameters are filled, strength and other
criteria’s checked.
 This machine can be made by raw materials also which
saves the cost of whole project and is easily
manufactured in available workshops.
 Hence there is need to promote this technology and
made available to even small scale farmers can use with
adequate prices.
Recommendation
 From this project we recommend that for enhancement
of our traditional method of agricultural production,
such and other farm related researches have great
contribution.
 So that the government and other concerned body
should give a critical attention on such types of
researches.
 Morley, there was time limitations on working of the
project; the prototype and the manufacturing process is
not included.
 So, we recommended that any concerned body to finish
and check the report thoroughly again and make
corrections wherever it has found necessary.

  • 3. 1. Introduction  Seed sowing or inline seeder machine is a device which helps in the sowing of seeds in the desired position hence assisting the farmers in saving time and money.  The basic objective of sowing operation is to put the seed and seed in rows at desired depth and seed to seed spacing, cover the seeds with soil and provide proper compaction over the seed.  This project will discusses different aspects of seed sowing machine which will be helpful for the agriculture industry to move towards mechanization.
  • 4. 1.1 Background of inline seeder machine  Ethiopian farmers have been using an oxen drawn plough known as the Marsha for thousands of years. Most of the components of the plough are wooden except two pieces: the ploughshare and a tying unit.  It is cheap and simple but Its depth of operation is low, crop productivity is very low with the traditional farming systems.  Now a day’s modern agricultural machine are being imported into the country. But they are used by few organizations, small agriculture investors and few rich farmers.
  • 5. 1.2 Problem statement  The traditional farming system, due to tossing of seed lots of seed will get waste as well as the fertilizer and seed will not get distribute properly and lots of resources and manpower required for seed sowing.  due to this way of sowing productivity of the farmer is not enough to satisfy the peoples of our country.  Hence there is a need to avoid this problem using machine.
  • 6. 1.3 Objectives of the Study  General objective: The main objective of this project is to design inline seeder and plougher machine for wheat seed.  Specific objectives:  To design the motorized inline seeder machine.  To design seed sowing machine that can be operated by the single operator.  To design a machine that ploughs and sows at the same time.  To Draw 3 D model of the machine.
  • 7. 1.4 Scope and limitation  The scope of this project is up to design and 3 D modeling of the machines.  And the limitation of this study is we could not do prototype because of lack of materials and time.
  • 8. 2. Methodology Problem identification Concept generation Data collection Material selection Select and design each component Draw assembly drawing using solid work
  • 9. Material selection  The aim of material selection in design is to create products and components that perform properly under operating conditions.  The following factors should be considered while selecting the material:  Availability of the materials,  Suitability of the materials for the working conditions in service, and  The cost of materials.
  • 10. Main components of machine  Hopper  Frame  Shaft  Wheel  Pulley  Motor  Distributor  Furrow opener
  • 11. Result  Hopper Volume = 0.0084m3 material type aluminum Mass = 22.8kg Weight = 23.7N
  • 12. Cont.….  Frame factor of safety =1.6 material type stainless steel Dimension = 1000mm by 800mm
  • 13. Cont.…  Shaft diameter = 33mm ,  material type carbon steel 40c-8 factor of safety = 4.5  Pulley diameter = 125mm for large pulley material cast iron , diameter = 75mm for small pulley
  • 14. Cont.…  Wheel material type carbon steel 40c-8 diameter =500mm factor of safety = 4 number of arm = 11 thickness of rim = 5.5mm
  • 15. Cont.…  Distributor Material type polyethylene diameter = 250mm number of bucket =11
  • 17. Working principle of the machine  The working principle of the machine is based on the power transmission from the motor to the shaft by belt connection  Then adding the wheat seed on one hoper and adding the fertilizer on the other hopper after this starting the machine by start the motor and the power is transmitted to pulley and then to the shaft.  The furrow opener plows the land as well as the seed is dropped by the distributer having the bucket at its periphery which takes the seed from the hopper and drops in to the furrow.
  • 19. Conclusion  Generally this project work is done for solving the problems stated at the problem statement.  In the analysis part, it is concluded that most of the dimensions and parameters are filled, strength and other criteria’s checked.  This machine can be made by raw materials also which saves the cost of whole project and is easily manufactured in available workshops.  Hence there is need to promote this technology and made available to even small scale farmers can use with adequate prices.
  • 20. Recommendation  From this project we recommend that for enhancement of our traditional method of agricultural production, such and other farm related researches have great contribution.  So that the government and other concerned body should give a critical attention on such types of researches.  Morley, there was time limitations on working of the project; the prototype and the manufacturing process is not included.  So, we recommended that any concerned body to finish and check the report thoroughly again and make corrections wherever it has found necessary.
