This document is a project report on the impact of composition of deposits and advances on profitability at SBM bank. 2. INTRODUCTION
Deposit constitutes the backbone of the finance company. Deposits are accepted from the
public for profitable deployment in the company’s business, consisting of hire purchasing,
leasing etc. Meaning of deposit the key success for commercial banks is deposits and this is
where the real crunch is expected, particularly for the newer banks.
A deposit in a bank is money (or cheques, drafts, etc.) placed in the bank to the one so
placing or depositing it. A general deposit with a bank is a deposit received and placed with
the fund of the bank to be loaned to customers and used in the general business with other
funds of the bank. A special deposit is a deposit for safe keeping; to be kept as received until
called for.
The term ’loan’ refers to the amount barrowed by one person from another. The amount is in
the nature of loan and refers to the sum paid to the borrower. Loan may be regarding as a
‘credit’ granted where the money is disbursed and its recovery is made on a later date.it is a
debt for the barrower.’ Advance’ on the other hand, is a ‘credit facility ‘granted by the bank.

OBJECTIVES:
 To find out the various schemes offered by nationalized bank for mobilizing
deposits.
 To understand the terms and conditions of various deposits and advances schemes
provided.
 To identify relationship between the loans issued and deposits are provided by the
bank.
 To access the different interest rate on the different loans schemes provided by the
bank.

3. SCOPE OF THE STUDY:
This topic of the project is mainly concerned with deposit and advances section. The main
area covered under this is the study of various schemes offered by the nationalised bank with
different interest rates and benefits to attract deposit and advances amount.

Review of Literature, Hypothesis, Operational Definition of concepts, Sampling,
Methodology, Types of Research plus tools for data collection, Plan of Analysis, Reference
Period, Limitation of the study, Chapter Scheme.
Chapter 3: Bank’s Profile
Inception, Type, Nature, Board of Directors, Organisation Chart, Business
Operation, Product/service Profile, and Market Share, Competitors, Functional
Chart, Future Prospects/Growth of the Bank.

4. Chapter 4: Data Analysis and Interpretation
Title of the study, Data table (In figures), Analysis of the table, Inference of the
table, Graphical Representation (Visual presentation of the data).
Chapter 5: Summary of Findings, Conclusion& suggestions
The chapter begins with Objectives and scope of the study to ease the Understanding of the
reader. The findings should be summarized and presented in a paragraph form, numbering
each of the finding. The conclusion of the project will be given so as to justify the objectives
