1) Researchers developed a speed dating application to test emotion models integrated into an AI system named Silicon Coppelia. 2) In a study, 54 female participants communicated with the AI system or a human assistant controlling the AI through a Wizard of Oz experiment. 3) Participants did not perceive differences in how the AI perceived them or the AI's emotions between conditions. However, participants could implicitly recognize differences in the cognitive structures behind the AI's perceptions.

In recent years, emotional personality has found an important application in the field of human machine interaction. Interesting examples of this domain are computer games, interface agents, human-robot interaction, etc. However, few systems in this area include a model of personality, although it plays an important role in differentiating and determining the way they experience emotions and the way they behave. Personality simulation has always been a complex issue due to the complexity of the human personality itself, and the difficulty to model human psychology on electronic basis. Current efforts for emotion simulation are rather based on predefined set or inputs and its responses or on classical models which are simple approximate and have proven flaws. In this paper an emotional simulation system was presented. It utilizes the latest psychological theories to design a complex dynamic system that reacts to any environment, without being pre-programmed on sets of input. The design was relying on fuzzy logic to simulate human emotional reaction, thus increasing the accuracy by further emulating human brain and removing the pre-defined set of input and its matched outputs.

Abstract: This paper describes how Attention Tool® can be used to measure human emotions and which statistical outputs are provided in the tool for each tested visual stimulus. The method in Attention Tool for measuring the emotional strength, also known as physiological arousal, is based on pupil size variation, eye blink pattern and gaze behavior. Furthermore, the method is evaluated together with galvanic skin response (GSR) recordings that is a well-known and widely used method for measuring arousal. The comparison of these two methods shows that Attention Tool is just as good an evaluator of physiological arousal as the currently used GSR.

Zoals jullie weten, sta ik hier omdat ik lijsttrekker wil worden en eigenlijk voelt dat een beetje raar, want ik praat veel liever over waarom onze ideen beter zijn dan die van andendere partijen, dan dat ik moet gaan vertellen waarom ik beter zou zijn dan iemand anders, maar juist dat maakt mij misschien wel een goede lijsttrekker. Want het is juist een van de grootste probleem in onze samenleving dat sommige mensen denken dat ze beter zijn dan anderen en dan de baas gaan spelen over hen. De geschiedenis laat zien dat macht corrumpeert. Bij overheden, bewiendsleden, maar ook bedrijven zoals Google, Facebook en de farmaceutische industrie. Doordat we nu met het internet met elkaar verbonden zijn, kunnen we met de massa sterker zijn dan wie of wat dan ook. Als je mensen wil overtuigen, moet je niet alleen weten wat je vindt, maar vooral ook waarom je het vindt. Bij ons ligt de kern daarbij in decentralisatie van macht. Van daaruit kun je al onze kernpunten beredeneren. Want we vinden privacy niet alleen maar belangrijk omdat we anders bespied worden, maar ook omdat anders de controleurs te machtig zijn. We vinden democratie belangrijk omdat anders de bestuurders te machtig worden. En we vinden vije Informatie belangrijk, want kennis is macht, en die moet zich dus zoveel mogelijk verspreiden. In de Tweede Kamer moeten we natuurlijk onze standpunten op een heleboel verschillende onderwerpen gaan bepalen, of we dat nou willen of niet. Dan is het dus belangrijk dat we dat doen op een manier waarop we ook met elkaar verbonden blijven Ik ben naar IJsland gegaan om te kijken hoe ze dat daar doen, want daar gaat het eigenlijk heel goed. En ik het daar ook uitgebreid met Brigitta over gepraat, en ook zij zei: we focusen vooroal op democratie en decentralisatie op die manier kunnen we samen standpunten bepalen over een heleboel onderwerpen, zoals bijvoorbeeld ook het basisinkomen. En dat kan dus ook, zolang je altijd maar vanuit de kern blijft redeneren en prioriteit blijft geven aan de belangrijkste kernpunten Ik praat graag over deze visie. Dat deed ik als wetenschapper, maar dat ben ik bij de Piratenpartij natuurlijk alleen nog maar meer gaan doen, ook buiten campagnetijd. Ik heb stukken geschreven, interviews, mediaoptredens, maar daar ga ik nu verder niet teveel over zeggen. Ik heb een mooi lijstje gemaakt van 17 kantjes, waarop jullie het allemaal kunnen terugzien en teruglezen, als jullie willen. Ik heb veel debatten gevoerd en krijg daar vaak enthousiaste reacties over; grote groepen mensen toegesproken op demonstraties Ik werk graag samen met andere bewgingen en organisaties; haal goede mensen bij de Piratenpartij, zols Jelle, Ancilla, en Niels waarmee we veel ludieke acties hebben gedaan. Ik vind het leuk om samen met anderen projecten op te zetten, bijvoorbeeld Crowdsource Europe

Why this matters: The success of new products and investments hinges on precise timing and foresight into emerging categories. This deck equips founders, VCs, and industry leaders with insights to align future products with upcoming tech developments. These insights enhance the ability to forecast industry trends, improve market timing, and predict competitor actions. The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

We chose the emotionally laden setting of the speed date because that would make it easy to ask the user what the invisible counterpart would think of them, ethically, aesthetically, etc. Also because of limited interaction

Develop state predicates about user Appraisal proces: Acquire personal meaning by comparing to personal goals, beliefs, concerns (through relevance / valence) Appraisal feeds into involvement / distance, and leads to (perhaps ambiguous) emotions Affective decision making process, which leads to a new situation
Expected satisfaction will be high if: High action tendency is generated (belief action facilitates desired goals) Level of positivity action matches biased involvement with the user Level of negativity action matches biased distance with the user Action with highest expected satisfaction is picked

W.Oz condition is more like humans, except for similarity, which is not so strange (domain, other type of similarity)
