Higher education and copyright: fair use vital for the Australian policy agenda
This document discusses several key issues in higher education relating to copyright including the needs of 21st century academics, massive open online courses (MOOCs), digital humanities and data recreation. It notes that copyright law has not kept pace with changes in how research and teaching is conducted. It highlights challenges for open educational resources around discoverability, quality control, distribution and acquisition. The document advocates for open access policies and reforming copyright legislation to better support open sharing of knowledge and data in higher education.
The document discusses how digital technologies are transforming tourism destinations and the tourist experience. It notes that most European tourists now go online regularly, averaging over 11 hours per week. It also discusses how technologies should be designed with the tourist experience in mind, blending seamlessly into their activities and enhancing their experiences. The document argues that tourism destinations can become "smart" by integrating technologies into the urban fabric.
The document discusses advanced database normalization theory including multivalued dependencies, join dependencies, and domain-key normal form. It defines inference rules for deducing implied dependencies, explains how to normalize a schema to higher normal forms like project-join normal form using dependencies, and gives examples of applying these concepts and normalization rules.
The document promotes The Experience Workshop which helps businesses improve their customer experience and loyalty. It notes that today's economy creates a confusing landscape for consumers who will withhold business unless they perceive significant added value. The workshop helps businesses transform by starting with customers through surveys, focus groups, and customer communities to understand their needs and issues in order to target critics, passives, and fans with specific strategies. This creates real value through word-of-mouth and helps businesses continuously improve their customer experience and loyalty.

The document discusses several key concepts in immunology:
1) Antigens are molecules that bind to antibodies or are presented by MHC molecules to T cells. Self antigens are tolerated while non-self antigens trigger an immune response.
2) Exogenous antigens enter the body from outside and are processed by antigen presenting cells and presented to T cells to activate the immune response.
3) Endogenous antigens are generated inside cells from infection or metabolism and are presented on MHC class I to activate cytotoxic CD8 T cells to destroy infected cells.
Understand your customer in developing countriesElaine Chen
Customer development is critical for the success for any new product development initiative. But what if your new initiative solves a problem in a developing country? Can you really solve the problems on the ground without spending significant time living in the country where the product will be used? In this talk, we use the Playpump case study to understand why the only real way to build a sustainable venture that solves problems in developing countries is to do primary market research on the ground. We explore a few research techniques you can engage in, including interviews, observation and immersion. This talk includes interactive simulations where participants will learn valuable research techniques via an interactive exercise.

This document summarizes discussions from a meeting on energy services and ESCo's in Milan. It outlines the split incentive barrier where different organizations pay for energy investments and bills. It also describes several initiatives in the Netherlands to address this, including a national energy agreement, guidance from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and tools like a Green Lease Menu to facilitate agreements between landlords and tenants. Examples are given of sustainable renovation projects and plans for all-in rent for national government buildings to overcome split incentives.
