ÖloF Filtration Teknologerna AB looks close at the pigments used in a
formulation. The type, shape, size and flexibility of the pigment varies
widely, as do the percent solids, viscosity and rheological properties of the
vehicle.
Substrates may vary from a clean metal finish (automobile), to dirty steel
(a bridge), to wood (home siding) and plastic.
So we know that a Service for Absolute Filtration Efficiency is essential in
the making of a high quality coating and paint a great number of products.

Chemicals
ÖloF Filtration Teknologerna AB has a great experience and over the years have
created and improved filter media to handle a wide variety of fluids.
Different medias, different technologies and different arrangements are some of
the requirements of our clients for their filtering systems. In the chemical
industry we go even further working with them to ensure the best product fit for
the fluid process.
In example:
Chemical products such as calcium carbonate and titanium dioxide are used in a
wide range of products from paints to paper. As part of the purification process,
these types of chemicals are processed within a fine suspension and regardless
of how they are to be used, it is imperative that these liquid slurries pass
through a final filtration process at the end of the process. This prevents any
oversized particles or unmixed particles from ending up in the final product.

Electronic Industry
In the electronic industry, several process need special filtration witch doesn´t
generate electric charge, migration of the filter media and other special need for
the industry.
The following cartridges will ensure safe, effective filtration for the electronic
industry.
Cartridge Filters
The filter cartridge type units generally operate more effectively and economically on applications having contamination levels of
less than 100 ppm. For heavier contamination applications, cartridges are normally used as final polishing filters and previous
filtration systems are used.
This type of system is widely used for its great versatility in presentation, degree of filtration, construction materials and ease of
exchange. These cartridges can be further classified into: Pleated, Depth, Wound, and Mesh
Pleated filters
Pleating describes a flat sheet of material folded multiple times to increase the surface of the media
around a cartridge core. This kind of arrangement increases the filtering area, increases the flow
handled and decreases the differential pressure.
The main filtration process in this type of filter is made in the surface (every filter, in some degree, is a
depth filter due that in the matrix there will always be some contaminant retention).
Pleated filters commonly come in cartridge type filters.
Depth Filters
Depth filtration is a process where a porous media is used to retain particles and contaminants of a
fluid in its matrix, not only on the surface.
This filtration solution is commonly used when the fluid has a high rate of contaminants because thee
can retain a large mass of particles before it becomes clogged.
The particles are retained from the fluid in the matrix due to the tortuous path it most go to pass in the
media.
Depth filters come in different arrangements, symmetric or asymmetric throughout the filter media.
Some are made of the same material and same structure all the way (symmetric with relative uniform
pore structure) and other will have graded density filtering media (asymmetric, as the filter media will
become more retentive with less open pore structure as it is closer to the cartridge inner core).
Wound filters
ÖloFWound Elements are used in the filtration of liquids and gases containing small
particulates or limited soft contaminants. These elements are used in a broad range of
industrial, chemical and process industries.
Made from string which is continually wound in a spiral pattern on a rigid center core,
wound elements are made from natural or synthetic fibers with a nominal rating of 1-250
microns, in a temperature range of up to 700°F maximum and a collapse pressure of 75-
110 PSID.
Ölof wound elements are constructed with 100% pure materials, with no binders or
adhesives, making them ideally suited for oil and gas, chemicals, food processes,
pharmaceutical and FDA applications.
Mesh Filters
ÖloFMesh stainless steel filter cartridges are for use in a wide range of applications and
industries, suitable for use in both liquids and gases.
All ÖloFMesh cartridges are manufactured from 316L stainless steel throughout. They are
available in both plain cylindrical and pleated configurations, using the very latest in high
specification medias. The plain cylindrical design provides a simple sleeve of filter medium
supported by a central core. The pleated design uses pleated media, again supported by the
central support core, this time providing over twice the effective filtration area of the
cylindrical cartridge.
Lenticular Depth Filters
Ölof Filtration Teknologerna AB will offer a wide variety of filter designs to
adapt to the actual filtering systems for any industry. With that in mind we
have developed a new generation of depth filter sheets in a lenticular stack
option. It is designed using a double separator concept.
The Separator design increases the total stability of the filter cartridges as the
separators fully support the sheet material. This design also prevents filter
sheet deformities after heat treatments and adverse effects of contact with hot
sanitation. It is manufactured with rigid external clips to prevent damaging
filter sheets during module loading and unloading while allowing for easy and
reliable handling.
Capsule filters
ÖlofCap ANF are ecofriendly, cost effective, smart, disposable and safe filtration
capsules with low holdup volume and excellent resistance to pressure.
Bag Filters
ÖloFPleated Bag Series
ÖloF Deep Pleated Bag is conformed by a pleated High Flow polypropylene depth media in a
wide diameter cartridge, it is constructed with an external polypropylene protector to
increase the integrity strength of the filter. The unique push-in adapters enable direct
replacement of bag filters into most commercially available bag housings to give reduced
filter change outs, maximized filtration performance and lower costs.
Bag filters are very popular in some applications generally for being inexpensive, and due to it´s dimensions it can manage
large volumes of fluids. They are most often used with high viscose fluids, such as oils, honey, and syrups. Processes that are
extremely high in rough particulate matter may benefit from the high dirt-holding capacity of the bag filters.
Present in many applications in the beverage industry, it can be used as means of clarification prior to more efficient filtration
technologies.
ÖloFBag HE Series
ÖloFBag HE bags utilize multi layered polypropylene microfibre media with built in pre-
filter layers. The progressive density depth filtration delivers high efficiency of up to
99.9% positive and controlled solids removal. The multi layered construction of the
ÖloFBag HE uses varying thickness of media to create a depth type filter with up to 12
different grades of material.
Filter Housings
Ölof Filtration Teknologerna AB has designed a series of filter housings that cater
to major industrial needs with the most innovative materials and the most diverse
configurations, accurately fitting to you process to protect your investment and
improve overall system performance.
Our teams provide designs with proven corrosion resistance and pressure levels
that makes them able to handle the most extreme working conditions.
These housings meet the highest quality standards and are available in various
materials and configurations to accept many types of cartridges from standard to
high flow for general applications, food and beverage, pharmaceutical industry
and even to handle aggressive chemicals.
Vessels venting filtration
Effective sterile vessel venting filtration is essential to reduce batch contamination,
spoilage, and product loss.
Especially important in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, sterile
filtration protects your product from harmful submicron particle contamination and
bacterial transfer or growth.
To maintain safe, balanced pressure during the filling or emptying of a storage
vessel, tank vent or breather filters are essential to reduce the possibility of
contaminating your product.

Sampling Valves
In many industries fluid sampling is needed at various points of production. It is essential for
quality control of products and is essential to prevent contamination in production line in the
process of sampling.
Ölof Teknologerna Filtration AB has designed a variety of sampling valves to address each of the
markets and industries that require them.
Made with high quality materials and under strict quality controls to ensure sterility in the
process of sampling.
ÖlofValve valves AS aseptic sampling should be treated by sterilization-in-place processing
(SIP) before and after testing each time. The materials are sealed membrane directly. No dead
ends for cleaning and the valve can be sterilized further. It can carry out continuous aseptic
sampling at any time. It is widely used in the industries of wine, beverage, dairy and
pharmaceutical products.
Activated Carbon
This type of filtration is commonly used in water applications and air purification.
The process involves activated carbon to eliminate impurities and contaminants using
de carbon absorption quality. The absorption process trap the pollutant (i.e. chlorine)
in the pore structure of the carbon substrate.
Activated carbon filtration is commonly used to remove chlorine, sediments, as well
as taste and odor from water but is not an optimal solution to eliminate minerals,
salts or dissolved inorganic compounds.

High Flow Filtration
Ölof Filtration Teknologerna has several option in High Flow Filtration to address almost any
industry or application.
These high-flow filters and housing systems offer exceptional benefits for manufacturers across all
industries – particularly for RO pre-filtering, or for filtering water and wastewater. These large,
pleated filters are better performing with an enormous filtration area – lowering cost (and
frequency) of replacement filters, and reducing environmental impact, increasingly making them
the preferred filtration option.
High-flow filter cartridges allow for finer filtration and for application with highly corrosive fluids
such as sea water or chemicals. The cartridges are installed in larger, one coated, carbon or
stainless steel single housings that feature smooth interiors conducive to different types of
coatings. This means the filters can now handle a wider array of manufacturing needs – including
filtration of liquids with high-saline content, certain chemicals, petrochemicals, plating solutions,
pharmaceuticals, and more. It also benefits municipalities that must filter or pre-filter brackish
water or work with aggressive water containing corrosive contaminants or total dissolved solids
(TDS).
One high-flow cartridge can do the job of many smaller cartridges with less square footage of
filtration media. Today, with the introduction of very large, single-cartridge pleated high-flow
filters, an estimated 100 square feet of surface area can be put to use . Although per unit costs
may be higher, these filters are harder working, with greater dirt-holding capacity, and require
fewer change outs so long-term costs are greatly reduced. Additionally, equipment down time is
reduced when larger cartridges are used – as are associated labor costs.
A large, high-quality, high-flow filter is compatible with a broad spectrum of fluids and permits flow
rates of up to 500 gallons per minute in a single cartridge, the highest available. Pleats made from
melt-blown FDA-compliant polypropylene microfiber (or other synthetic fiber) provide high particle
removal efficiency with broad chemical compatibility.

Coalescence
Coalescence is the process by which two or more droplets, bubbles or particles merge
during contact to form a single daughter droplet, bubble or particle.
Coalescence filters will induce this process to eliminate liquids from a gas system or
even separate tow undissolved liquids like oil-in-water emulsions.
Other uses for this type of filtration can be oil in an air stream toxic for human use or
water in a gas flow that can be hazardous for equipment.
This type of filtration can also be used to eliminate water from
Gas filtration
Industries have a long history of using compressed gas in their processes but
technology and the search for more efficient machinery has risen the necessity for
a more purer gas.
Gas filtration systems for stream, containment and point-of-use act as barrier for
impurities so machinery work better and lasts longer and to prevent any plant
downtime.
Steam filtration is another part of industrial processes where we in ÖloF Filtration
Teknologerna AB take in account the need to protect equipment and process filters
from damage from contaminants in the fluid.
Steam is used for equipment sterilization and direct or indirect thermal processing of
foods. Whenever steam is used to sterilize equipment or filters, there can be particles
of rust from the boiler that can damage equipment, block steam valves, filling orifices
and filter pores. This can result in downtime to do maintenance and in loos of
production.
Also in other applications as in the food industry, steam is used directly in the process
and it has to be free of particles and contaminants.
We deliver systems and products that will remove debris and scale that are present in
steam lines and systems. By ensuring quality steam, you can reduce your downtime
and increase your plant efficiency.

Ozone Resistant Filtration
Ozone treatment and sterilization is commonly used in the Food & Beverage
Industry around the globe but this component can be very aggressive to
standard filter media.
The best (most common) materials that have no alteration due to Ozone are:
Butyl, Polyethylene (PEX), EPR, Ethylene-Propylene, Polyurethane, PVDF,
Silicone, Stainless steel - 304/316, PTFE, and Viton.
Ölof will deliver a reliable variety of filters that can be used in ozone trated
fluids and enviroments.
Coarse Filtration
Also known as pre-filtration, Coarse Filtration, is a process where the main objective is to remove coarse suspended
solids that could deposit on process equipment creating scale and corrosion sites.
It is mainly done to the source water before entering the main process itself. Filtration with coarse filters can
typically range from less than 50 microns to 2000 microns. Filter cleaning is accomplished using automatic
backwashing, and is required when the differential pressure on the unit increases to the point of maximum or the
flow becomes too restricted.
Trap filtration
We call trap filtration commonly when in this stage there is a retention of particles often introduced to a production
process like yeast, activated carbon, or other particles proper to the main process.
This so-called trap filters protect downstream processes from contamination by the released particles.
Depth filtration is most often used for this function.
Fluid clarification
In the food and beverage industry, clarification is mainly the process of elimination of suspended particles in fluids
to minimize haze or cloudiness.
In example in beer brewing in this process we would be eliminating yeast cells or protein solids, and in
winemaking this can be also yeast cells, bacteria or even pieces of grape skin, pulp, stems and gums.
Most clarification and pre-filtering process will be done with Depth Filters.
Fine filtration
There is a filtering classification is often broken down in three categories; Coarse or clarifying, fine filtration and sterile
or pre-membrane. Fine filtration for ÖloF Filtration Teknologerna AB is a stage where will offer several solutions to
offer with different media element, pore grades, stack arrangements, end caps and other specifications that will
comply with your requirements.
Fluid polishing
It refers to any process that removes small (usually microscopic) particulate material, or removes very low concentrations of
dissolved material from a fluid.
In example:
• Water polishing can be accomplished by removing “micro particles” in a normal filtration process.
• In chemical filtration fluid polishing can be achieved when eliminating magnetic resins from solutions.
• In spirits making the use of activated carbon will take out the rough edge usually associated with typical moonshine, and
leave vodka's clean, tasteless & odorless, ready for flavoring.
• Polishing in beer brewing can also be considered fine filtration usually done before final filtration or in small breweries
this can be considered the final filtration process.
• Fuel Polishing is defined as the removal of water, sediment, non-combustible particulate matter and microbial
contamination below levels stated in ASTM D975 (Standard Specification for Diesel Fuel Oils) while resuspending
combustible particulate matter to maintain ASTM standards for BTU value, lubricity, and cetane.
Sterile filtration
Filtration is a common method of sterilizing products. A sterilizing filter is one when challenged with the microorganism
Pseudomonas diminuta, at a minimum concentration of 107 organisms per cm² of filter surface, sill produce a sterile effluent.
Usually this filters will have a porosity rating of 0,22μm or smaller.
Reverse Osmosis
Reverse osmosis systems have become an efficient solution of various processes of water. It can be
considered the most advanced degree of filtration that has been invented for water purification and
without adding any chemicals. Such is it´s advantage, that is the technology used in most countries
today to transform seawater into desalinated or clean drinking water, even for purified water for human
consumption and industrial processes.
Reverse osmosis is a process that removes particles having a molecular weight cutoff of 100 to 200.
This process is perfect for the removal of substances such as metal ions, acids, sugars, dyes, natural
resins and ions. The reverse osmosis membranes offered by Ölof Filtration Teknologerna AB provides
varying degrees of rejection and flow characteristics, particularly suitable for the treatment of multiple
and various water treatment applications.
Ultrafiltration (UF) is a variety of membrane filtration in which a pressure gradients or concentration lead
to separation through a semipermeable membrane. Solids and solutes of high molecular weight are
retained in suspension while the water and solutes low molecular weight pass through the membrane in
the permeate. This separation process is used in industry and research to purify and concentrate
macromolecular - solutions (103,106 Da), especially protein solutions.
Holow Membrane Filters are based on a class of artificial membranes containing a semipermeable barrier
in the form of a hollow fiber. The hollow fiber membranes have a cost effective way to filter large volumes
of fluid. As the hollow fiber membranes can be manufactured in different diameters, this technology offers
great versatility in handling different currents and obtaining a very clean to the treatment of highly
polluted wastewater groundwater.
Because of its configuration of flow inside-out, hollow fiber membranes can be easily tested for integrity
and are the preferred method of separating water, beer and wine filtration in the beverage industry.
Membrane Ultra-Filtration
Crossflow Ultra-Filtration
In Ultra-Filtration using Crossflow Membranes the feed is passed through a membrane or bed, the solids
being trapped in the filter and the filtrate being released at the other end. Cross-flow filtration gets its
name because the majority of the feed flow travels tangentially across the surface of the filter, rather
than into the filter.
Having the tangential flow will wash in some degree the filter cake itself so the filter will not clog as
easily and the service life of the filter will be longer and this will also enable the process to be
continuous and minimize the downtime for filter change outs.
Cross-flow membrane filtration is the technology of choice for many industrial processes that require
the separation or concentration of products without the application of heat. There are applications
throughout the food, dairy, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and starch and sweetener industries in which
membrane filtration excels. Benefits compared with other methods of separation include: accurate
separation of multiple streams; reduced risk of damage especially for heat-sensitive products; no loss of
nutritional value or clinical efficacy; reduced energy consumption; reduced waste disposal costs; higher
yields; and greater flexibility for new product development.
It is akin to reverse osmosis (RO), microfiltration (MF), and nanofiltration (NF), with each technology
distinguished by the size of the molecules it retains.
Also this type of filtering system can be very useful when there are components in the retentate that we
want to preserve or recuperate from the fluid (i.e. catalyzers).
For this filtering process it is recommended to use a pre-filtration system to increase the service life of
the filter media.
RO and UF Pre-filtration
Reverse Osmosis, membrane filtration or Ultrafiltration (UF) are fluid treatments where the filtering
media has a very small pore grade. Generally there will a pre-filtering stage before this processes to
prolong the membrane life span and minimize process clogging.
The membrane pore size is the fundamental quality that determines the size and kind of
contaminants that will be removed, and the type of contaminants present in the “raw” fluid will
determine what king of pre-filtration will be needed.
In this stage of “pre-filtration” we would recommend to design a system that removes minimum
98% of all suspended particles to ensure the membranes longer service life.
These particles could include organic fibers, algae, sand, silt, and more from water sources or debris
form the process itself like yeast.

  • 7. As filtration technology evolves, our understanding of automotive requirements increase. The R&D department on ÖloF Filtration Teknologerna AB have developed new filtering products and systems to ensure quality products and sub-products fit to the highest standards in many industries included the automotive one. We are able to deliver replacement filters with similar or higher performance than OEM ones with better economics for the whole process, not only in the cost of the filters but also can contribute to less downtime and fewer production stops. Automotive Paint Filtration Steam Filtration Compressed Air Paints & Inks Paints & Coatings can as a category, oils, varnishes, lacquers and paints itself, this means that it involves thin and heavy fluids a like ÖloF Filtration Teknologerna AB looks close at the pigments used in a formulation. The type, shape, size and flexibility of the pigment varies widely, as do the percent solids, viscosity and rheological properties of the vehicle. Substrates may vary from a clean metal finish (automobile), to dirty steel (a bridge), to wood (home siding) and plastic. So we know that a Service for Absolute Filtration Efficiency is essential in the making of a high quality coating and paint a great number of products. Particle removal Compressed Air Air Filters Inks can get contaminated by several external agents or even from their own production process in the production phase. Eliminating this contaminants has to be made without elimination pigments or colors of the ink itself while ensuring that grind standards are met. ÖloF Filtration Teknologerna AB filters and systems can achieve highly selective particle removal to ensure mainly two things; equipment integrity (i.e. prevent nozzle clogging, higher flow rates) and printing finish. • 8. Chemicals ÖloF Filtration Teknologerna AB has a great experience and over the years have created and improved filter media to handle a wide variety of fluids. Different medias, different technologies and different arrangements are some of the requirements of our clients for their filtering systems. In the chemical industry we go even further working with them to ensure the best product fit for the fluid process. In example: Chemical products such as calcium carbonate and titanium dioxide are used in a wide range of products from paints to paper. As part of the purification process, these types of chemicals are processed within a fine suspension and regardless of how they are to be used, it is imperative that these liquid slurries pass through a final filtration process at the end of the process. This prevents any oversized particles or unmixed particles from ending up in the final product. Chemicals: Polymer separation, acids, bases and solvents Usage: Fine Chemicals: Polymers, aggressive acids, bases, solvents, Ozonized DI water Fine Chemicals: Polymers, aggressive acids, bases, solvents, Ozonized DI water Electronics: Photoresists, acids, tech solutions Electronic Industry In the electronic industry, several process need special filtration witch doesn´t generate electric charge, migration of the filter media and other special need for the industry. The following cartridges will ensure safe, effective filtration for the electronic industry.
  • 9. Cartridge Filters The filter cartridge type units generally operate more effectively and economically on applications having contamination levels of less than 100 ppm. For heavier contamination applications, cartridges are normally used as final polishing filters and previous filtration systems are used. This type of system is widely used for its great versatility in presentation, degree of filtration, construction materials and ease of exchange. These cartridges can be further classified into: Pleated, Depth, Wound, and Mesh Pleated filters Pleating describes a flat sheet of material folded multiple times to increase the surface of the media around a cartridge core. This kind of arrangement increases the filtering area, increases the flow handled and decreases the differential pressure. The main filtration process in this type of filter is made in the surface (every filter, in some degree, is a depth filter due that in the matrix there will always be some contaminant retention). Pleated filters commonly come in cartridge type filters. Depth Filters Depth filtration is a process where a porous media is used to retain particles and contaminants of a fluid in its matrix, not only on the surface. This filtration solution is commonly used when the fluid has a high rate of contaminants because thee can retain a large mass of particles before it becomes clogged. The particles are retained from the fluid in the matrix due to the tortuous path it most go to pass in the media. Depth filters come in different arrangements, symmetric or asymmetric throughout the filter media. Some are made of the same material and same structure all the way (symmetric with relative uniform pore structure) and other will have graded density filtering media (asymmetric, as the filter media will become more retentive with less open pore structure as it is closer to the cartridge inner core).
  • 10. Wound filters ÖloFWound Elements are used in the filtration of liquids and gases containing small particulates or limited soft contaminants. These elements are used in a broad range of industrial, chemical and process industries. Made from string which is continually wound in a spiral pattern on a rigid center core, wound elements are made from natural or synthetic fibers with a nominal rating of 1-250 microns, in a temperature range of up to 700°F maximum and a collapse pressure of 75- 110 PSID. Ölof wound elements are constructed with 100% pure materials, with no binders or adhesives, making them ideally suited for oil and gas, chemicals, food processes, pharmaceutical and FDA applications. Mesh Filters ÖloFMesh stainless steel filter cartridges are for use in a wide range of applications and industries, suitable for use in both liquids and gases. All ÖloFMesh cartridges are manufactured from 316L stainless steel throughout. They are available in both plain cylindrical and pleated configurations, using the very latest in high specification medias. The plain cylindrical design provides a simple sleeve of filter medium supported by a central core. The pleated design uses pleated media, again supported by the central support core, this time providing over twice the effective filtration area of the cylindrical cartridge.
  • 11. Lenticular Depth Filters Ölof Filtration Teknologerna AB will offer a wide variety of filter designs to adapt to the actual filtering systems for any industry. With that in mind we have developed a new generation of depth filter sheets in a lenticular stack option. It is designed using a double separator concept. The Separator design increases the total stability of the filter cartridges as the separators fully support the sheet material. This design also prevents filter sheet deformities after heat treatments and adverse effects of contact with hot sanitation. It is manufactured with rigid external clips to prevent damaging filter sheets during module loading and unloading while allowing for easy and reliable handling. Capsule filters ÖlofCap ANF are ecofriendly, cost effective, smart, disposable and safe filtration capsules with low holdup volume and excellent resistance to pressure.
  • 12. Bag Filters ÖloFPleated Bag Series ÖloF Deep Pleated Bag is conformed by a pleated High Flow polypropylene depth media in a wide diameter cartridge, it is constructed with an external polypropylene protector to increase the integrity strength of the filter. The unique push-in adapters enable direct replacement of bag filters into most commercially available bag housings to give reduced filter change outs, maximized filtration performance and lower costs. Bag filters are very popular in some applications generally for being inexpensive, and due to it´s dimensions it can manage large volumes of fluids. They are most often used with high viscose fluids, such as oils, honey, and syrups. Processes that are extremely high in rough particulate matter may benefit from the high dirt-holding capacity of the bag filters. Present in many applications in the beverage industry, it can be used as means of clarification prior to more efficient filtration technologies. ÖloFBag HE Series ÖloFBag HE bags utilize multi layered polypropylene microfibre media with built in pre- filter layers. The progressive density depth filtration delivers high efficiency of up to 99.9% positive and controlled solids removal. The multi layered construction of the ÖloFBag HE uses varying thickness of media to create a depth type filter with up to 12 different grades of material.
  • 13. Filter Housings Ölof Filtration Teknologerna AB has designed a series of filter housings that cater to major industrial needs with the most innovative materials and the most diverse configurations, accurately fitting to you process to protect your investment and improve overall system performance. Our teams provide designs with proven corrosion resistance and pressure levels that makes them able to handle the most extreme working conditions. These housings meet the highest quality standards and are available in various materials and configurations to accept many types of cartridges from standard to high flow for general applications, food and beverage, pharmaceutical industry and even to handle aggressive chemicals. Vessels venting filtration Effective sterile vessel venting filtration is essential to reduce batch contamination, spoilage, and product loss. Especially important in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, sterile filtration protects your product from harmful submicron particle contamination and bacterial transfer or growth. To maintain safe, balanced pressure during the filling or emptying of a storage vessel, tank vent or breather filters are essential to reduce the possibility of contaminating your product.
  • 14. Contact us: Europe: sales.europe@ olof-filtration.com - America: sales.america@ olof-filtration.com - Asia : sales.asia@olof-filtration.com - Web: www.olof- Sampling Valves In many industries fluid sampling is needed at various points of production. It is essential for quality control of products and is essential to prevent contamination in production line in the process of sampling. Ölof Teknologerna Filtration AB has designed a variety of sampling valves to address each of the markets and industries that require them. Made with high quality materials and under strict quality controls to ensure sterility in the process of sampling. ÖlofValve valves AS aseptic sampling should be treated by sterilization-in-place processing (SIP) before and after testing each time. The materials are sealed membrane directly. No dead ends for cleaning and the valve can be sterilized further. It can carry out continuous aseptic sampling at any time. It is widely used in the industries of wine, beverage, dairy and pharmaceutical products. Activated Carbon This type of filtration is commonly used in water applications and air purification. The process involves activated carbon to eliminate impurities and contaminants using de carbon absorption quality. The absorption process trap the pollutant (i.e. chlorine) in the pore structure of the carbon substrate. Activated carbon filtration is commonly used to remove chlorine, sediments, as well as taste and odor from water but is not an optimal solution to eliminate minerals, salts or dissolved inorganic compounds.
  • 15. Contact us: Europe: sales.europe@ olof-filtration.com - America: sales.america@ olof-filtration.com - Asia : sales.asia@olof-filtration.com - Web: www.olof- High Flow Filtration Ölof Filtration Teknologerna has several option in High Flow Filtration to address almost any industry or application. These high-flow filters and housing systems offer exceptional benefits for manufacturers across all industries – particularly for RO pre-filtering, or for filtering water and wastewater. These large, pleated filters are better performing with an enormous filtration area – lowering cost (and frequency) of replacement filters, and reducing environmental impact, increasingly making them the preferred filtration option. High-flow filter cartridges allow for finer filtration and for application with highly corrosive fluids such as sea water or chemicals. The cartridges are installed in larger, one coated, carbon or stainless steel single housings that feature smooth interiors conducive to different types of coatings. This means the filters can now handle a wider array of manufacturing needs – including filtration of liquids with high-saline content, certain chemicals, petrochemicals, plating solutions, pharmaceuticals, and more. It also benefits municipalities that must filter or pre-filter brackish water or work with aggressive water containing corrosive contaminants or total dissolved solids (TDS). One high-flow cartridge can do the job of many smaller cartridges with less square footage of filtration media. Today, with the introduction of very large, single-cartridge pleated high-flow filters, an estimated 100 square feet of surface area can be put to use . Although per unit costs may be higher, these filters are harder working, with greater dirt-holding capacity, and require fewer change outs so long-term costs are greatly reduced. Additionally, equipment down time is reduced when larger cartridges are used – as are associated labor costs. A large, high-quality, high-flow filter is compatible with a broad spectrum of fluids and permits flow rates of up to 500 gallons per minute in a single cartridge, the highest available. Pleats made from melt-blown FDA-compliant polypropylene microfiber (or other synthetic fiber) provide high particle removal efficiency with broad chemical compatibility.
  • 16. Contact us: Europe: sales.europe@ olof-filtration.com - America: sales.america@ olof-filtration.com - Asia : sales.asia@olof-filtration.com - Web: www.olof- Coalescence Coalescence is the process by which two or more droplets, bubbles or particles merge during contact to form a single daughter droplet, bubble or particle. Coalescence filters will induce this process to eliminate liquids from a gas system or even separate tow undissolved liquids like oil-in-water emulsions. Other uses for this type of filtration can be oil in an air stream toxic for human use or water in a gas flow that can be hazardous for equipment. This type of filtration can also be used to eliminate water from Gas filtration Industries have a long history of using compressed gas in their processes but technology and the search for more efficient machinery has risen the necessity for a more purer gas. Gas filtration systems for stream, containment and point-of-use act as barrier for impurities so machinery work better and lasts longer and to prevent any plant downtime.
  • 17. Steam filtration is another part of industrial processes where we in ÖloF Filtration Teknologerna AB take in account the need to protect equipment and process filters from damage from contaminants in the fluid. Steam is used for equipment sterilization and direct or indirect thermal processing of foods. Whenever steam is used to sterilize equipment or filters, there can be particles of rust from the boiler that can damage equipment, block steam valves, filling orifices and filter pores. This can result in downtime to do maintenance and in loos of production. Also in other applications as in the food industry, steam is used directly in the process and it has to be free of particles and contaminants. We deliver systems and products that will remove debris and scale that are present in steam lines and systems. By ensuring quality steam, you can reduce your downtime and increase your plant efficiency. Steam Filtration Coalescence Fuel filters Particle removal Water filtration Ozone Resistant Filtration Ozone treatment and sterilization is commonly used in the Food & Beverage Industry around the globe but this component can be very aggressive to standard filter media. The best (most common) materials that have no alteration due to Ozone are: Butyl, Polyethylene (PEX), EPR, Ethylene-Propylene, Polyurethane, PVDF, Silicone, Stainless steel - 304/316, PTFE, and Viton. Ölof will deliver a reliable variety of filters that can be used in ozone trated fluids and enviroments.
  • 18. Coarse Filtration Also known as pre-filtration, Coarse Filtration, is a process where the main objective is to remove coarse suspended solids that could deposit on process equipment creating scale and corrosion sites. It is mainly done to the source water before entering the main process itself. Filtration with coarse filters can typically range from less than 50 microns to 2000 microns. Filter cleaning is accomplished using automatic backwashing, and is required when the differential pressure on the unit increases to the point of maximum or the flow becomes too restricted. Trap filtration We call trap filtration commonly when in this stage there is a retention of particles often introduced to a production process like yeast, activated carbon, or other particles proper to the main process. This so-called trap filters protect downstream processes from contamination by the released particles. Depth filtration is most often used for this function. Fluid clarification In the food and beverage industry, clarification is mainly the process of elimination of suspended particles in fluids to minimize haze or cloudiness. In example in beer brewing in this process we would be eliminating yeast cells or protein solids, and in winemaking this can be also yeast cells, bacteria or even pieces of grape skin, pulp, stems and gums. Most clarification and pre-filtering process will be done with Depth Filters.
  • 19. Fine filtration There is a filtering classification is often broken down in three categories; Coarse or clarifying, fine filtration and sterile or pre-membrane. Fine filtration for ÖloF Filtration Teknologerna AB is a stage where will offer several solutions to offer with different media element, pore grades, stack arrangements, end caps and other specifications that will comply with your requirements. Fluid polishing It refers to any process that removes small (usually microscopic) particulate material, or removes very low concentrations of dissolved material from a fluid. In example: • Water polishing can be accomplished by removing “micro particles” in a normal filtration process. • In chemical filtration fluid polishing can be achieved when eliminating magnetic resins from solutions. • In spirits making the use of activated carbon will take out the rough edge usually associated with typical moonshine, and leave vodka's clean, tasteless & odorless, ready for flavoring. • Polishing in beer brewing can also be considered fine filtration usually done before final filtration or in small breweries this can be considered the final filtration process. • Fuel Polishing is defined as the removal of water, sediment, non-combustible particulate matter and microbial contamination below levels stated in ASTM D975 (Standard Specification for Diesel Fuel Oils) while resuspending combustible particulate matter to maintain ASTM standards for BTU value, lubricity, and cetane. Sterile filtration Filtration is a common method of sterilizing products. A sterilizing filter is one when challenged with the microorganism Pseudomonas diminuta, at a minimum concentration of 107 organisms per cm² of filter surface, sill produce a sterile effluent. Usually this filters will have a porosity rating of 0,22μm or smaller.
  • 20. Reverse Osmosis Reverse osmosis systems have become an efficient solution of various processes of water. It can be considered the most advanced degree of filtration that has been invented for water purification and without adding any chemicals. Such is it´s advantage, that is the technology used in most countries today to transform seawater into desalinated or clean drinking water, even for purified water for human consumption and industrial processes. Reverse osmosis is a process that removes particles having a molecular weight cutoff of 100 to 200. This process is perfect for the removal of substances such as metal ions, acids, sugars, dyes, natural resins and ions. The reverse osmosis membranes offered by Ölof Filtration Teknologerna AB provides varying degrees of rejection and flow characteristics, particularly suitable for the treatment of multiple and various water treatment applications.
  • 21. Ultrafiltration (UF) is a variety of membrane filtration in which a pressure gradients or concentration lead to separation through a semipermeable membrane. Solids and solutes of high molecular weight are retained in suspension while the water and solutes low molecular weight pass through the membrane in the permeate. This separation process is used in industry and research to purify and concentrate macromolecular - solutions (103,106 Da), especially protein solutions. Holow Membrane Filters are based on a class of artificial membranes containing a semipermeable barrier in the form of a hollow fiber. The hollow fiber membranes have a cost effective way to filter large volumes of fluid. As the hollow fiber membranes can be manufactured in different diameters, this technology offers great versatility in handling different currents and obtaining a very clean to the treatment of highly polluted wastewater groundwater. Because of its configuration of flow inside-out, hollow fiber membranes can be easily tested for integrity and are the preferred method of separating water, beer and wine filtration in the beverage industry. Membrane Ultra-Filtration
  • 22. Crossflow Ultra-Filtration In Ultra-Filtration using Crossflow Membranes the feed is passed through a membrane or bed, the solids being trapped in the filter and the filtrate being released at the other end. Cross-flow filtration gets its name because the majority of the feed flow travels tangentially across the surface of the filter, rather than into the filter. Having the tangential flow will wash in some degree the filter cake itself so the filter will not clog as easily and the service life of the filter will be longer and this will also enable the process to be continuous and minimize the downtime for filter change outs. Cross-flow membrane filtration is the technology of choice for many industrial processes that require the separation or concentration of products without the application of heat. There are applications throughout the food, dairy, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and starch and sweetener industries in which membrane filtration excels. Benefits compared with other methods of separation include: accurate separation of multiple streams; reduced risk of damage especially for heat-sensitive products; no loss of nutritional value or clinical efficacy; reduced energy consumption; reduced waste disposal costs; higher yields; and greater flexibility for new product development. It is akin to reverse osmosis (RO), microfiltration (MF), and nanofiltration (NF), with each technology distinguished by the size of the molecules it retains. Also this type of filtering system can be very useful when there are components in the retentate that we want to preserve or recuperate from the fluid (i.e. catalyzers). For this filtering process it is recommended to use a pre-filtration system to increase the service life of the filter media.
  • 23. RO and UF Pre-filtration Reverse Osmosis, membrane filtration or Ultrafiltration (UF) are fluid treatments where the filtering media has a very small pore grade. Generally there will a pre-filtering stage before this processes to prolong the membrane life span and minimize process clogging. The membrane pore size is the fundamental quality that determines the size and kind of contaminants that will be removed, and the type of contaminants present in the “raw” fluid will determine what king of pre-filtration will be needed. In this stage of “pre-filtration” we would recommend to design a system that removes minimum 98% of all suspended particles to ensure the membranes longer service life. These particles could include organic fibers, algae, sand, silt, and more from water sources or debris form the process itself like yeast.
