Henry VIII ruled England from 1509 to 1547. He was known for having six wives and breaking from the Catholic Church to establish the Church of England after the Pope denied his request to annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. This led Henry VIII to establish himself as the head of the new Church of England.
