Curriculum-

State
Standard:
L.K.1e - Use the most frequently occurring prepositions (e.g., to, from, in, out,
on, off, for, of, by, with).
Objectives: Students will identify and apply prepositions commonly used in daily
occurrences.
Instruction-
Procedures:
I will first go through a short lesson on prepositions, using graphics on a
PowerPoint. After, I will play a game of Simon Says using the prepositions that
were learned in class.
Assessment-
How will you
check
student
learning:
After Simon Says. I will go back to the PowerPoint and present clipart asking
where an object is in relation to prepositions (ex. Johnny is in the House,
Johnny is going to the store.) I will link the PowerPoint so that if the students
get a correct answer, it takes them to a congratulations page. if it is wrong, it
is a "try again" page.
Editor's Notes
I will link to a video to show the students just to get a basis of what prepositions are. You can never go wrong with Schoolhouse Rock!
I will start with a lesson on prepositions, using these as aids to explain the words. Usin the motion path option on PowerPoint, I will give the visual learners an aid to understand prepositions.
I will also use easier words and names that they can recognize.
I will incorporate programs such as paint to edit my graphics for the students like I did here.
To explain the concept of in, I will also incorporate a stuffed animal and a box to show the next slides because they are a bit trickier to understand.
At this point, I will play a few rounds of Simon Says, saying things such as “Simon Says put your pencil BY your desk”, or “Simon Says tell me what you put your schoolwork IN,” and so on. Afterwards, when I feel that the students are ready, we will move onto the next slides in which students will have their assessment.
The remaining slides will be questions. I will call students up to answer the questions by pointing the one that they think is the appropriate answer.
