UConn's Premier Dance Troupe is a unique student dance organization that focuses on entertaining audiences and mastering performance art through a variety of dance styles like contemporary, African, hip-hop, ballet, jazz, and lyrical. Started in 2008 as Pivotal Motion Dance Team, the troupe is made up of 8-11 students who voluntarily come together to share their passion for dance and encourage diversity in their art. In their free time, members learn and choreograph new dances to perform at cultural events, dinners, and competitions both on and off campus.

This document provides guidance for starting a chamber music program in high schools. It discusses recruiting interested students, forming ensembles, selecting appropriate repertoire, and providing coaching. The goal is to help students develop deeper musical and personal connections through chamber music. An advisory council of experienced teachers provides additional advice and resources to help more students experience the benefits of chamber music.
Clubs
Fusion is a dance company at Franklin High School, not a dance team, that holds auditions each year for about 14-19 spots. The company performs year-round at events like homecoming and recitals. Led by director Pam Turley for 13 years, Fusion dancers receive training in styles like modern, jazz, and tap and have exclusive rights to perform the annual Spring Dance Concert at the local theater.

AFA provides music education programs to students in the Houston area, including a Summer Music Conservatory, Year-Round Curriculum, and programs in schools. In 2014-15, AFA served over 1,900 students through these programs. The Year-Round Curriculum included a Chamber Music Academy, Houston Girls Chorus, and Composer Institute. AFA In Schools offered residencies, master classes and performances in local schools. AFA aims to make programs accessible regardless of financial need and provide performance opportunities for students.

- 1. Uconn’s unique dance organization is unlike any other dance club located on the UConn campus. The members of Premier Dance Troupe are participants of a newly found organization at Uconn. - 5. Premier Dance troupe participates in UConn’s Lip Sync and guest appears in UConn Dance Companies fall and spring shows. Anyone can choreograph in this dance company. Those interested must try out and choreograph a 30 second dance number and perform it in front of the dance team captains and chair members and wait to hear if their piece will be selected for the upcoming season.
