 Psychologists found that most of the
Psychological and Physical problems that an
adult face are arising out of the abnormal
development in the different stages of
development. Further research showed that
most of the psychological problems of the
individual are routed in past, it may start from
the period of Conception. An individual passes
through 10 developmental stages in his life
span, starting from Prenatal and ends in Old
age.
 Pre-natal or Antenatal period is the process in
which a human embryo or fetus gestates
during pregnancy and from fertilization until
birth ,often the term ,the fetal development or
embryology are used in similar sense
-WHO
 Prenatal period is the time period between
conception and birth. It lasts for 40 weeks,
which is roughly 9 months.
 During this period important organs such
heart, brain spinal cord and other are formed.
 Prenatal period is divided into three trimesters
1st,2nd and 3rd , each consist of 3 months.
 Hazards During Period of Zygote
-Starvation
-Lack of Uterine Preparation
-Implantation in the Wrong Place
 Period of Embryo
-Miscarriages
-Maternal malnutrition
 Period of Fetus
-Miscarriages
-Prematurity
-Complications In delivery
-Developmental irregularities
 If developmental irregularities are very serious the
child will be deformed in some way. But they may
undiagnosed for years even after birth
 Parents will find difficulty to accept a defective
child and often feels guilty of causing the trouble
 It is a well known fact that malnutrition will lead
to damage of brain and later learning difficulties
may engulf the child
 Physical hazards during this period leave
behavioral disturbance in the child till 2 years or
even more.
 Smoking and drinking during the pregnancy
period will have negative effects in child
 The psychological hazards can have persistent
effects on the individuals development and can
influence the postnatal environment.
 There are mainly three important psychological
hazards, they are
1. Traditional belief s about prenatal
development
2.Maternal stress
3.The unfavorable attitudes the towards the
unborn child
 Pre-natal period is significant due to the reason
of on that how a child’s behavior in future will
be determined during this period itself.
irregularities in this stage of development will
surely contribute to future problems.
