The photographer took practice shots of Kayla Kole to determine the best costume and shot type for her magazine spread. By experimenting with different costumes, including a dark skirt that did not suit Kayla Kole's star image, the photographer was able to find that a white top conveyed the delicate yet friendly personality needed to align with the magazine's brand identity and target audience.

I began with these images of Kayla Kole
as I was unsure of what costume to use
for her. I was also unsure of which shot
type would suit my magazine. Therefore,
by playing around with costume I was
able to try out what reflected the brand
identity of my magazine correctly.
I didn’t like the skirt in this image, as I
did not like the dark colour, it didn’t
correlate with the personality and star
image of my artist, so I decided to stick
to a white top; giving a sense of delicate,
innocence. Yet, the brightness from the
white still gives a bubbly and friendly
approach, inviting my target audience
into reading my magazine.
