Editor's Notes

  1. Good afternoon, everyone.  Thank you for joining today’s webinar.  We will start in 1 minute.   <OK it’s 12pm, let’s get started>
  2. Deana Good afternoon, everyone.  Thank you for joining today’s webinar.  We will start in 1 minute.   <OK it’s 12pm, let’s get started> Good afternoon! This is Deana Buck from Virginia’s Integrated Training Collaborative, and I thrilled to have Carol Trivette from the Center for Early Literacy Learning joining me for today’s webinar. Dr. Trivette is a leader in the field of early childhood, having contributed to our research and evidence-based practices. Dr. Trivette and her colleagues at the Puckett Institute have been leaders in translating research into practices that can be implemented by families, caregivers, and interventionists in practice. Dr. Trivette joins us today to share information about the Center for Early Literacy Learning, particularly for early intervention providers. You should know that this work is part of the CELL project’s work in Virginia. To date, staff from the CELL project have trained cohorts of trainers in Lynchburg and Roanoke, and a training of trainers is scheduled for NoVA on August 11 th and 12 th . In addition, Dr. Trivette will be participating in an early childhood professional develoment summit in Staunton next week. From a practical point of view, I was interested in having Dr. Trivette join us so that she could orient you to the amazing resources and toolls that have been developed through CELL. This project will end in September, but the resources will remain on the website for our continued use. The video clips are wonderful, and illustrate practical ways to infuse literacy and learning into every day routines and activities. Thank you for joining us today.
  3. Quick housekeeping reminders: Lines will be muted throughout the call.  You will be able to ask questions and interact during the webinar using the chat feature on your screen. As a reminder, to use the chat feature, click the mouse in the box in the lower right corner of your screen, type a message and hit enter. Take a minute to give it a try.  Remember anything you type in the chat box is public and will be seen by all. We will try to answer as many questions as possible and similar questions may be grouped together.
  4. Another feature you might want to take advantage of, is the ability to full these slides in full screen. They are best viewed in this format. To go into full screen mode locate the button with 4 arrows on it. You can find it on the bar below this slide. When you’ve found the button, click it.   When you go into full screen mode you do lose the view of chat, but we will always guide you back to chat when necessary. To get out of slide view, hit the escape key on your keyboard.
  5. Following this webinar, you’ll receive an email asking you to complete a brief survey to give us feedback. We ask that you please take a few moments and let us know about your experience participating in the webinar. This will help us as we develop future professional development opportunities.

  7. Now we want you to take a tour of the website. In just a second when you get to the website this is what you should see. As you tour around identify 1 or 2 items that you think look like they would be useful to you when you are working with parents or teachers. Use the products section listed on the left hand side. The first items are practice guides. The next three section CELL Papers, CELL Reviews, and CELL Notes are all the research syntheses. But after that you find CELL Tools, CELLcasts, CELL videos, and CELL Pops and posters. As you find an items that you want to share write down the area it is in so you can tell others where to find it. So explore and then we will get you to share what you find.
  8. Open up your internet and log on to the website listed here. We would like for you to take the next 15 minutes to visit the CELL site.
  9. Would someone like share what they thought might be helpful and were they found it?
