PRACTICES & AWARENESS OF DENGUE INFECTIONS AMONG THE
RESIDENTS OF POBLACION CABANGLASAN, BUKIDNON
“DengueFever is a diseasecaused by a family of viruses that are
transmitted by Mosquitoes especially the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. Symptoms of
Dengue fever include; severejoint & muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes,
Headache, fever, exhaustion and rash”
Due to high incident rate of Denguefever in the Philippines. A research
study was conducted in the Municipality of Cabanglasan mainly Barangay
Poblacion to determine the Level of Knowledge & Practices among the residents.
The results have demonstrated that respondents wereKnowledgeable aboutthe
concepts of Dengue on how it is transmitted, its symptoms and what are the
Preventivemeasures against Dengue. However, the Level of Practices is Low.
Thus, it serves as an Eye opener that high level of awareness or knowledge
does not guaranteeto high level of practices. In view of this result, Government
agencies and Non- Governmentorganizations should strengthen its programs on
massiveEducational Campaign to increase awareness and Knowledgeregarding
dengue and Preventivemeasures to reduce the number of mosquitoes and
Prevention of Dengue.
Information, Education and Communication materials maybe provided in
areas like schools and Health centers making it more accessible for the residents
to obtain. Knowledge of Dengue, the vectors & transmission of Diseasemay be
incorporated into the schoolcurriculumespecially in areas whereDengue is
highly Prevalent. Reorientation, Training of Community Health Workers should be
conducted regularly to improvetheir Technical skills and Capability, and their
