RESEARCH came from the French word “recherché” which means “to go about seeking” or to “search”
IMPORTANCE OF RESEARCH
1. Research helps engineers, architects, scientists in providing designs that are creatively beautiful and adapt to the ever-changing society.
2. Research leads to designing a new product or service, which have high demand among consumers.
3. Researchers in this field deal more with social issues such as stress, leadership style, child labor, teenage pregnancy, human trafficking, drug addiction etc.
4. Researchers on best ways to acquire skills can be guided on how to teach the art of doing skilled works.
What research is NOT (Leedy & Ormrod, 2013)
1. Research is not merely gathering information.
2. Research is not merely rummaging around for hard-to-locate information.
3. Research is not merely transporting facts from one location to another.
Why do we conduct RESEARCH?
1. It is through research that we can find ANSWERS to many of our unanswered questions.
2. We want to find reliable evidence to support our findings, conclusions.
3. We want to discover NEW knowledge.
Other IMPORTANCE OF RESEARCH
1.) RESEARCH improves quality of LIFE.
2.) RESEARCH improves INSTRUCTION and students’ achievements.
3.) RESEARCH reduces BURDEN of work.
4.) RESEARCH contributes to socio-economic RECOVERY of our country.
5.) RESEARCH trains students to be globally- COMPETITIVE.
Characteristics of Research
Empirical– research is based on direct experience or observation by the researcher.
Logical– research is based on valid procedures and principles.
Cyclical– research starts with a problem and ends with a problem.
Analytical– Research utilizes proven analytical procedures in gathering data, whether historical, descriptive, experimental, and case study.
Critical– research exhibits careful and precise judgment.
Methodical– research is conducted in a manner without bias using systematic method and procedures.
Replicability– research design and procedures are repeated to enable the researcher to arrive at valid and conclusive results.

The first group to guess gets 5 points.
There will be 7 rounds.
Answer will only be accepted if done this way:
