3. INTRODUCTION :
The term violence against women has been
used to describe a wide range of acts,
including murder, rape and sexual assault,
physical assault, emotional abuse, battering,
stalking, prostitution, genital mutilation,
sexual harassment, and pornography.

4. DEFINITION :
Violence in women : Any act of gender-based
violence that results in or is likely to result in
physical, sexual, psychological harm or suffering to
women, including threats of such acts, coercion or
arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring
in public or private life."

5. STATISTICS AND INCIDENCES :
1-Worldwide, 1 in 3 women have experienced
physical or sexual violence — mostly by an intimate
