For the latest free CDE seminar we were very pleased to welcome Jon Bellum, Provost and Senior Vice-President at Colorado State University-Global Campus, to Senate House to talk about a case study for retention in online learning.
Colorado State University-Global Campus is a 100% online public institution focused on providing adults with career-relevant bachelor’s and master’s degrees. A university wide retention and persistence program was designed to provide its non-traditional students with the support they needed throughout the student lifecycle. Since implementing this process improvement, CSU-Global has been able to maintain first-to-third term retention rates that exceed 80% and a four-year retention/graduation rate that exceeds 75%.
The presentation ran through the processes involved in implementing this programme and reviewed the outcomes.

• Mobile phones to be switched off and must be inside the bag during school

• Personal ipads / tablets are not to be used in school
• If students are found using the mobile phones / tablets without teachers
permission, they will be confiscated and returned only when parents come to
school to collect it.

○ MC to be produced for medical leave.
○ Student pass holders – at least 90% attendance is a must.

CBSE Assessments
• Syllabus for each Assessment will be sent 14 days in advance.
• The exam schedule for the entire year has been shared in the Principal’s
welcome mail.
• Assessment dates are fixed for the most part. But in extraordinary
circumstances school may reschedule a test.
• No retest allowed for absentees.
• Students who are unwell should refrain from coming for tests and exams.

GIIS Promotion Policy
• Promotion based on the performance of the pupil during the entire session
• Every student is required to get a qualifying grade D or above in all the subjects
in the Scholastic Area.
• A student getting E grade in scholastic areas in one or more subjects will have to
improve his/her performance in one subsequent attempt to obtain qualifying
Grade D in these subjects.
• 85% attendance (90% for Student Pass Holders) is imperative.
