CHILDHOOD
 Extremely demanding, and cool natured.
 As he grew up, he became even more vigorous,
and irrepressible.
 Possessed immense gusto and enormous energy.
 Always made a decision of what he wanted to do
and did in exactly the way he wanted it to be
done.
EDUCATION
 After he completed his primary education, at the
village school, he was sent to the Junagarh
Dist. of Gujarat for further studies.
 Quite popular in his school and well- known for
his brilliance and hard-work.
 Elected general secretary of the Junagarh
Students Union. 
STEP TOWARD SUCCESS
 Enters in yarn and spices business - 1962 -
Partnership cousin Champaklal Damani.
 Decided to start a textile unit of his own in 1966
and built his first factory in Naroda.
 Reliance Haziri - 1991 - manufacture
of petrochemicals.
 Made oil and gas discovery - 2002.
 started Telecommunication business in 2002.
RELIANCE TEXTILES
 Starts Reliance textiles at Naroda in 1966.
 Brand - vimal textiles - vimal brand franchised
throughout the country.
 His assets were worth 10 lakhs by 1970’s.
 Reliance textiles gets certificate of excellence in
1975.
 The Vimal brand was discontinued couple of
years back- but was restored in 2008.
 Most of his team members were uneducated
except for an engineer and 2 matriculates
 Nylon was decided to be manufactured.
 Devaluation by the government steeply raised
the project cost.
 Problem of locating trained and experienced
textile mill workers
 In spite of all difficulties, production started in
the morning date of 1 September 1966

 Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information
and Communication Technology - established
by The Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation (DAF) at
Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
 Started admitting students in 2001 with intake
of 240 students for Bachelor of Technology
(B.Tech.).
 Known as one of the best institute in Gujarat.
DEATH
 Admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital in
Mumbai on June 24, 2002 after he suffered a
second major Brain stroke”.
 First one had occurred in 1986 and had kept his
right hand paralyzed.
 State of coma for more than a week.
 Breathed his last on July 6,2002.
