This document describes an action research project that investigated using mobile technologies like SMS text messaging to support vocabulary learning for ESL students. The research was conducted in two cycles. Results from the first cycle found that mLearning enhanced flexibility and motivation for learning, improving students' vocabulary test grades. The second cycle incorporated student-centered design principles and saw even greater participation and learning gains. However, developing appropriate mobile learning materials required significant effort. Overall, the findings suggest that mLearning can effectively enhance and support student learning when integrated thoughtfully into the curriculum.

The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to understand how in-service teachers with
3-5 years of experience perceived their pre-service training regarding integration of 21st Century
technology into instruction. Twenty participants from a rural public school system in southeast North
Carolina participated. This study attempted to describe: How do 3rd – 5th year teachers in one public school
district in North Carolina describe college experiences with educational training to integrate 21st Century
technology into their classroom lesson plans? Through interviews and a focus group themes were identified
through the participant’s perceptions of the phenomena of 21st Century technology integration training.
Participants identified these themes: (a) exposure to basic uses of technology, (b) 21st Century technology
assignments were neither purposeful nor rigorous, and (c) the majority of integration of confidence and/or
competence began after field placements. Themes were used in developing a list of best practices as
articulated by the participants.
Qualitative Chemistry Education: The Role of the TeacherIOSR Journals
Abstract: This paper discussed the role of a chemistry teacher towards improving the quality of education in Nigeria. The decline in the quality of education has been attributed to many factors. Some of these factors are unqualified teachers, examination malpractice,, lack of practical skills, method of classroom instruction, to mention but a few. The role of a chemistry teacher among others is to change the method of classroom instruction from lecture method to innovative learning strategy such as cooperative learning and concept mapping, and to make use of improvised materials in the absence of standard equipments . It also examine the problems associated with the fall in quality of education. Finally it is recommended that Government should ensure that adequate funds are released to train science teachers, since teachers are the main determinant of quality in Education.

Concurrent Validity and Stability of the Maze Task in a Sample of College Stu...dbpublications
This paper examines the concurrent validity and test-retest reliability of the maze task in a sample of college students. The maze task is a form of Curriculum Based Measurement that is typically used to assess reading comprehension in elementary and secondary students, but has not been used with college students. Three visions of the maze task (one-, two-, and three-minute probes) were created and compared to student scores on the Nelson-Denny Reading Test (NDRT), student’s self-report of GPA, and scores on the SAT-Reading, -Math, and –Writing tests. The one-minute probe was found to have the best psychometric properties, with high correlations with the NDRT, GPA, and SAT-Reading, as well as divergent validity with the SAT-Writing test. Implications for use with college students is discussed.
Reflecting on pedagogical practices with electronic portfolios.Ann Davidson
This communication discusses the implementation of an ePortfolio designed to encourage self-regulation in learners. First, it presents the Québec political context from which the necessity of providing students with a competency based education arises. Second, a brief literature review provides some arguments about the development of technological competencies in learners and teachers and about the orientation that pedagogy can take. This study strived to answer two research questions: 1) After using an ePortfolio during a school year, what are the pedagogical activities that teachers identify as being valuable to conduct with students? 2) What are the teachers’ perceptions of the influence of an ePortfolio on student learning and on their pedagogical approaches? We conducted interviews and a focus group with French Québécois teachers. The results of this grounded theory show that the ePortfolio implementation was a good experience for some teachers, but other teachers faced more important issues during the implementation phase.
STUDENT’S ATTITUDES TOWARD INTEGRATING MOBILE TECHNOLOGY INTO TRANSLATION ACT...IJITE
Previous research shows that the integration of mobile phones in the classroom is challenging, but numerous studies have also demonstrated that wireless networks and mobile tools to support collaborative learning improve educational outcomes. This study aims to question the feasibility of replicating their research methodology in Taiwanese classrooms. For this purpose, two conventional classes of second year license degree in Applied Foreign Languages were the respondents. The students’ attitudes were observed and their participation was examined through an interview that revealed the perceptions of their learning experiences. The results of this study show that students, when allowed to use their cell phones according to their own needs in a collaborative learning, become more interested in their learning and can improve their English efficiency more than students in the conventional classroom. It is thus recommended that highly advanced technology be integrated with more flexibility to match students’ learning needs and motivations.

In a post-recession corporate world, culture has become the new competitive advantage. A new white paper from Ryan Estis & Associates examines how leaders can follow proven best practices to create a positive culture and lead teams of engaged, confident, motivated employees.
The white paper, “Winning with Culture: How Leadership Drives Engagement & Performance,” includes new research on leadership and employee engagement from Modern Survey and insight from leaders at companies with top-rated employee engagement: technology company Red Hat, agricultural credit group Farm Credit Services of America and Minneapolis health care system Park Nicollet Health Services.
Governments, educators and the public often believe that combining English language with information technology skills is important to be successful (Tuan, 2011). WebQuestsare a framework for learner-centered instruction in teaching English as a foreign language when using Internet resources. This study investigated the effect of WebQuests on Grade 11 reading comprehension in a secondary school in the UAE. It also investigated perceptions of WebQuests as a study tool. A quasi-experimental research design was used with control and experimental groups. In addition, a Likert scale questionnaire examined perceptions of WebQuests. An analysis of co-variance (ANCOVA) and descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. The results indicated a statistically significant improvement in reading by the experimental group. Additionally, positive attitudes were reported towards WebQuests. Students felt that WebQuests enhanced collaboration, language skills, reading and higher order thinking skills. Finally, recommendations for further studies will also be discussed in this paper.

Adaptive Remediation Solutions Design Framework and Implementation for Studen...iosrjce
E-learning has established a critical presence in the 21st century learning environment. With the rise
of convergence technologies, different models of e-learning have emerged obliterating the barriers of time and
space and delivering deep learning. Teaching-learning interplay has been further enhanced because of novel
interactive process centric interventions and e-tutoring is emerging as an effective teaching learning solution.
Specifically, the paper addresses the current e-learning challenges by designing and implementing Adaptive
Remediation Solutions Framework to e-tutoring. The e-tutoring Adaptive Remediation Solutions Framework
deals with improvement of the overall learning experience by identifying the gap and adopting Learning to
learn driven remedial interventions with the specific cognitive requirements of the learner traditionally not
catered to in a standard (conventional) e-learning environment. The paper ascertains the improvement in the
student success rate by early identification of learners at-risk followed by timely, continuous and multi-tiered
teaching-learning interventions. Convergence Technology (CT) enabled Educational Technology (ET) has been
leveraged to offer innovative pedagogies by matching learning model in Adaptive Remediation Solutions
Framework with learners abilities & differentiated assessment. This has been evaluated through data obtained
from an e-learning course offered by a leading e-learning institute. The results clearly demonstrate that the
Adaptive Remediation Solutions Framework assists in creating an effective learning environment resulting in
improved student success rate.
Strategic Intervention Material SIM for Grade 11 Scienceijtsrd

Teachers need to be committed and possess initiative and high aspirations in implementing new approaches in the classroom in an effort to increase the quality of education. One of the efforts that can make the teacher profession oen that is praised by all is Classroom Action Research (CAR). However the main problem that exists is that many teachers argue that the process of conducting this classroom action research is burdensome as it increases their workload and thus affects their quality time in teaching (Veenman, 1984).This study focuses on efforts that can ensure a culture of implementing classroom action research to enhance the professional self-development of schoolteachers. It aims to show ways in which implementing this classroom action by school teachers can lead to better effectiveness in the teaching and learning process.
The research questions of the study are:
1. How can we make classroom action research a culture among the teachers in a school
2. What is the basic mechanism that can be implemented
3. What are the responses of teachers towards the concept of classroom action research
4. What are the ways in which CAR can lead to professional self-development
The research involved 200 primary school teachers district and questionnaires combined with observation, interviews and document analysis were utilized together with triangulation to gather the data needed. The major findings of the research will show as well its implications for teacher education and their professional self-development. It concludes that CAR can raise teacher’s awareness of important aspects in the teaching and learning process and that it can lead to a higher level of professional self-development.
