Horror Films Why do we crave the feeling of being threatened? Why do we generally limit ourselves to the adrenaline produced in a movie theater?
Gender Role Playing Why do we question the sexuality of a man who does his laundry? And why do we find it uncomfortable when a boy child wants to play with dolls or chooses the “womanly” duties? Why do we consider the men and women who don’t follow the “norm” for a gender role as outcasts?
Violence Why do we teach children not to use violence as an answer yet we overexpose our society with violent behavior? Why are we pulled toward the shootings on the news as opposed to the good deeds done?
Facebook/Myspace Why do we obsess and overexpose ourselves on sites like Facebook and Myspace? We are killing our communication skills by using technology. Why do we choose to destroy our language with acronyms and smaller words?
American Pollution Why do we, as a society, wait until there is a serious problem before we act rather than preventing the consequence? What about our societal beliefs bring us to depreciate our environmental values compared to the value we place on the shock and awe we find on the news?
Poverty Why does our society mask poverty with the wealthy of our nation? Why do we see the homeless as someone being a failure rather than as an opportunity to connect with another human being?
Media/Celebrities Why do we, as a society, thrive on the ability to use weaknesses and mistakes of celebrities to enhance our self-esteem? Why does our media exude negativity in its’ perspective of the world rather than empower our society with positive information?
The Arts Why doesn’t our society incorporate the arts as a major tool in education? Why does our society stereotype an artist to look homeless rather than a person in a suit and tie?
Sports Why is our society’s mentality toward sports ‘only the strong survive’? Why do we idolize athletes, who might not have the best morale or make the best choices, enough to pay them millions in order for us to be entertained by their performance?
