PDHPE is one of the six key learning areas in the NSW primary curriculum and develops students holistically by promoting their wellbeing, social, mental, physical, and spiritual development. It encourages physical activity to improve cardiovascular health, reduce obesity and heart disease risks, and enhance motor skills and psychological health. Additionally, PDHPE teaches important life skills beyond physical education like problem-solving, communication, interaction, decision-making, and movement. The overall aim of PDHPE in primary schools is to provide students with the foundation to lead healthy, active, and fulfilling lives.
