This study compared the efficacy of PQ Multi-Enzyme Cleaner and ANIOSYME cleaner. Tests found that PQ Multi-Enzyme Cleaner removed all protein soil after 30 minutes at concentrations of 0.5-1.0%, while ANIOSYME left considerable residue. PQ Multi-Enzyme Cleaner also caused no corrosion to stainless steel, aluminum, copper or brass, whereas ANIOSYME caused changes in appearance and weight loss in aluminum, copper and brass. In conclusion, PQ Multi-Enzyme Cleaner demonstrated greater detergency and anti-corrosion effects compared to ANIOSYME.

1.Introduction
This report includes the results of efficacy comparison tests conducted on Power
Quick Multi-Enzyme Cleaner for Manual Soaking (Weak alkaline, Low-foaming; hereafter
“PQ Multi-Enzyme Cleaner”) and ANIOSYME DD1 (hereafter “ANIOSYME”).
2.Materials and methods
2-1. Cleaners used in the tests
The cleaners used in the tests are shown in Table 1. ANIOSYME (provided by
Global Operations Division of SARAYA in May 2013) contains quaternary ammonium salts
and PHMB and is used for cleaning and pre-disinfection, according to the description on its
label.

2-2. Detergency
Cleaning efficacy indicator TOSI (PEREG, Waldkraiburg, Germany) was used in
the tests. The concentrations of the cleaners used in the tests were 0.5% and 1.0%, which
were their recommended use concentrations. TOSIs were immersed in the use solutions of
the test cleaners for 10 or 30 minutes at 40℃. After immersion, TOSIs were taken out and

rinsed lightly in running water, and then were dried and stained using Power Quick
Residual Protein Detector (SARAYA).
2-3. Anti-corrosion effect
Test metal pieces (stainless steel (SUS304, SUS430, SUS420J2), aluminum,
copper and brass in a size of 50mm × 30mm × 0.8mm) were immersed in use solutions of
PQ Multi-Enzyme Cleaner and ANIOSYME, and were set aside for seven days at 50℃.
After immersion, the test pieces were rinsed in water and dried, and the changes in their
appearance and weight were examined.
3.Results
3-1. Detergency
Test results are shown in Table 2. PQ Multi-Enzyme Cleaner removed the soil
totally after 30-minute immersion at the concentrations of both 0.5% and 1.0%. In contrast,
ANIOSYME resulted in considerable soil residue after 30-minute immersion regardless of
the concentration. Quaternary ammonium salts and PHMB, which are the cleaning and
disinfecting ingredients of ANIOSYME, are known to cause adhesion of protein soil1
. This
information was confirmed by the test results.

3-2. Anti-corrosion effect
Results are shown in Tables 3 and 4. PQ Multi-Enzyme Cleaner caused no
changes on all test metal pieces regardless of the concentration. In contrast, ANIOSYME
caused changes in appearance and weight on aluminum, copper and brass test pieces.

4.Summary
Comparison between PQ Multi-Enzyme Cleaner and ANIOSYME is summarized
in Table 5. PQ Multi-Enzyme Cleaner was confirmed to have greater efficacy than
ANIOSYME in both detergency and anti-corrosion effect.
