WHAT IS GEOGRAPHY?
Definition:
 In basic terms: geographers want to know where
something is, and how there location of that thing
affects/is affected by where other things are.
 Physical geography earth’s physical processes
(natural, resources, global climate and etc.)
 Human geography spatial aspects of human life
(language, cultural political, economic and etc)

• The natural environment encompasses all living and
non-living things occurring naturally, meaning in this
case not artificial.
• The environment encompasses the:
-global climate change
-weather
-natural resources
-natural hazard
Global climate change
• Climate change refers to significant changes in global
temperature, precipitation, wind patterns and other
measures of climate that occur over several decades
or longer.
• Also known as Global Warming
• Caused by human activities such as:
-Burning of fossil fuels
-Deforestation
Weather
The state of the atmosphere at a particular place and
times as :
Regards heat
Cloudiness

• Natural resources that exist without actions of
humankind.
• This includes all valued characteristics such as:

Natural Hazard
• Natural hazard is a natural phenomenon that might
have a negative effect on humans or the
environment.

• Human geography attends to human patterns of
social interaction, as well as spatial level
interdependencies, and how they influence or effect
the earth’s environment.
