This document discusses the power of music. It suggests that music activates pleasure and reward regions of the brain due to human evolution. Early humans used music for hunting and social bonding which caused our brains to develop reward pathways responsive to music. Listening to music triggers dopamine release, which makes people feel good. The benefits of music include improving memory, fostering cooperation, and helping those with neurological diseases by positively impacting mood.

Lively nontechnical discussion of how the gift of music can have positive effects on health and disease. Music as a part of the health care culture is discussed from the prehistoric era to present day
People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?
So while music probably doesn't cause us to have horrible relationships with others it could be a factor in our emotional wellbeing. So the heartbreak, rejection and pain you suffer is probably not because of your music, but it may be why you recover as quickly afterward
It´s a presentation about Characteristics of Classical, Pop and Folk Music. It has been made by Javier Silva in 2007 for Music Signature in 2º ESO in IES Rodríguez Moñino. Badajoz.
Slides from my presentation at AGOSCI, in Brisbane, May 2015. This fun workshop demonstrated lots of easy, practical, toe-tapping ideas for using Music to encourage language, communication and literacy. What the slides can't show.... me singing and dancing! Enjoy!
