Analysis of the indirect effects of basic psychological needs and motivational regulations in the relationship between intensity, frequency and emotional response to exercise
This study aims to determine if a 10-week yoga program delivered during lunch breaks at an office can improve heart rate variability (HRV) and related health measures in sedentary office workers. It is a randomized controlled trial that will assign participants to either a yoga group participating in three weekly lunchtime yoga sessions, or a no-treatment control group. The primary outcome is the high frequency component of HRV, a marker of parasympathetic nervous system activity and stress. Secondary outcomes include additional HRV measures and assessments of physical and psychological health. Assessments will take place before, after, and 6 months following the intervention. The researchers hypothesize that yoga will increase HRV and improve health.
This document summarizes a study that examined the effects of 7 weeks of resistance training and light walking on the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) in institutionalized older adults compared to a control group. The study found that the exercise group, which performed resistance training 3 days a week and light walking 2 days a week, showed a statistically significant decrease in their AHI compared to the control group. While the exercise group gained strength, the strength gains did not correlate with the reduction in AHI. The study concludes that supervised resistance training and light walking can reduce the severity of obstructive sleep apnea in institutionalized older adults.

- The document examines the prospective associations between objectively measured physical activity, sedentary time, cardiorespiratory fitness, and cardiometabolic risk factors over 4 years in people with type 2 diabetes.
- It finds that increases in physical activity energy expenditure and cardiorespiratory fitness, and decreases in sedentary time, were associated with improvements in waist circumference, blood pressure, and clustered cardiometabolic risk.
- Baseline measures of these factors were generally not predictive of cardiometabolic risk at the 4-year follow up, suggesting the importance of changes over time rather than single measures.

High-velocity muscular power training improves functional outcome measures in...Chris Hattersley
High-velocity muscular power training can improve functional outcomes in older adults according to a systematic review. The review examined 8 studies with 328 total participants comparing high-velocity training to no training or traditional resistance training. High-velocity training focused on exercises using maximum intended movement velocity, especially for the lower limbs. Various functional outcome measures showed small to large improvements, such as increased walking and stair climbing speed. However, some studies noted potential safety issues like injuries that could be prevented with proper pre-conditioning and exercise selection.

Post exercise cold water immersion benefits are not greater than the placebo ...Fernando Farias
This study examined the effects of cold water immersion (CWI), thermoneutral water immersion placebo (TWP), and thermoneutral water immersion control (TWI) on recovery from high-intensity interval training. Thirty males performed interval sprints followed by 15 minutes of one of the three recovery conditions. The study found that ratings of readiness for exercise, pain, and vigor were significantly better in CWI and TWP compared to TWI, but similar between CWI and TWP. This suggests that the benefits of CWI may be partly due to the placebo effect rather than just physiological factors.

High intensity aquatic resistance training over 4 months led to decreases in body fat and improvements in walking speed in post-menopausal women with mild knee osteoarthritis. Only the improvements in walking speed were maintained at the 12-month follow-up. Leisure time physical activity had a small relationship with changes in body fat and walking speed. The aquatic training was well-tolerated with some initial joint pain that decreased over the 4 months and no participants dropped out due to dyspnea.
The document discusses aging and rehabilitation, covering several key points:
1. It outlines different categories and types of aging, and defines optimal aging as maintaining high functional capacity and quality of life without disease.
2. Physical activity is recommended to reduce health risks in aging, and a comprehensive exercise program incorporating aerobic, resistance, and flexibility training provides benefits.
3. When prescribing rehabilitation exercises, a personalized approach is needed to consider an individual's needs, health status, and motivation levels.
4. A biopsychosocial model of care that considers medical, physical, and psychological factors is recommended to effectively treat chronic pain conditions in aging patients.
This systematic review examined the effects of stretching before and after exercise on muscle soreness and injury risk. Five studies on stretching and muscle soreness were included, all using static stretching. A meta-analysis found that stretching had a negligible effect on soreness up to 72 hours later, reducing it by less than 2mm on a 100-mm scale. Two studies on injury risk in army recruits found that a specific stretching protocol reduced lower extremity injuries by 5%, which was not a meaningful risk reduction. The evidence does not support stretching for reducing muscle soreness or injury risk.

The review analyzed 25 randomized controlled trials involving over 26,000 participants and 3,400 injuries. It found that overall, exercise programs were effective in reducing sports injuries, with certain types of exercises working better than others. Strength training was the most effective at reducing injuries, cutting the risk to less than one-third. Proprioception training and programs combining multiple exercises also significantly reduced injuries. Both acute and overuse injuries saw reduced risk from exercise programs.
Heart Rate Variability: A Valid Training Tool or Another Gimmick?
HRV is used in athletics to determine daily training readiness, spot impending overtraining, assess recovery from overreaching, and determine peak performance readiness. Research shows HRV monitoring improved swim and run performances but results are equivocal for elite athletes. Decreases in time-domain HRV measures and increases in frequency-domain ratios indicate incomplete recovery and potential overtraining. HRV may help guide high-intensity versus low-intensity training and tapering, though more research is needed on its effectiveness for elite athletes.
This study compared the effectiveness of two rehabilitation programs for acute hamstring strains. Twenty-four athletes with hamstring strains were randomly assigned to either a static stretching, isolated strengthening, and icing program (STST group) or a progressive agility, trunk stabilization, and icing program (PATS group). The PATS group had a significantly shorter average time to return to sports (22.2 days vs 37.4 days) and lower reinjury rates both within 2 weeks of returning (0% vs 54.5%) and within 1 year (7.7% vs 70%) compared to the STST group. A rehabilitation program including progressive agility and trunk stabilization exercises was found to be more effective for returning athletes to

Stress management and stress handling hand outEhatsham Riaz
We generally use the word "stress" when we feel that everything seems to have become too much - we are overloaded and wonder whether we really can cope with the pressures placed upon us.
3 causes 3 cures - why you get sick and how you can get wellGeorge Love
This document outlines various causes of illness including physical, emotional, energetic, and nutritional trauma and insufficiency. It then describes corresponding cures and recovery methods like Qigong exercises, meridian therapy, psycho-puncture, and nutrition. Key approaches discussed are traditional Chinese medicine techniques for reversing trauma, detoxifying toxicity, and replenishing insufficiency through movement, meditation, and herbal remedies. The document promotes integrating spiritual, emotional, energetic and physical wellness.
The document discusses what psychosocial support entails, including meeting people's emotional, social, mental, and spiritual needs. It explains that psychosocial support for people living with HIV/AIDS specifically requires addressing their needs for belonging, acceptance, identity, and spiritual guidance. The document emphasizes that effective psychosocial support programs need to support families in providing for children's comprehensive needs including education, health, family care, nutrition, and social participation.
This document discusses various theories of motivation and stress management. It covers Maslow's hierarchy of needs, Alderfer's ERG theory, McClelland's need theory, Herzberg's two-factor theory, Adams' equity theory, and Vroom's expectancy theory of motivation. For stress, it defines stress, outlines Selye's general adaptation syndrome stages, and discusses burnout. It also covers Type A and B personalities and strategies for managing stress individually and organizationally.
This document discusses the use of movement, games, and sports in psychosocial health promotion in contexts of violence and conflict. It outlines (1) different approaches that integrate movement-centered methods for trauma therapy and psychosocial intervention, (2) the immediate, mediate, and holistic effects of these activities, and (3) how a combination of verbal and non-verbal tools can be used. The Action Program through Movement (APM) methodology is then described, including its conception/planning, realization, and evaluation phases to facilitate meaningful experiences and increase resources and coping abilities.
This was developed by the Institute for Functional Medicine. It provides a concise explanation of the new paradigm of medicine that focuses on underlying causes of disease and treatment from that level rather treating symptoms alone, the approach often taken by modern medicine. The presentation clearly differentiates between these approaches and discusses how they can be used in a complementary fashion to benefit patients. We included this presentation here because it explains how testing such as that provided by Metametrix is being used to identify underlying causes of health problems.
This document provides guidance for hosting community gatherings to discuss anti-oppression principles and practices. It emphasizes that hosting involves creating space for respectful, inspiring, accountable and critical dialogue where people can share experiences and learn together. Key principles for hosting include: being encouraging, aware of power dynamics, and challenging prejudice, bias and discrimination when they arise. The goal is to prevent harm, build trust, center marginalized voices, and transform dynamics of oppression through collaborative discussion. Hosting responsibilities may include facilitating discussion, supporting decision making, providing arts activities, and ensuring childcare. Communities have a legacy of hosting such gatherings to strategize creative responses to issues of equity and social justice.
Stress is a normal physical response to events that make you feel threatened or upset your balance in some way.
Stress is the “wear and tear” in our minds and bodies experience as we attempt to cope with our continually changing environment
Stress is your body's way of responding to any kind of demand.
It can be caused by both good and bad experiences. When people feel stressed by something going on around them, their bodies react by releasing chemicals into the blood. These chemicals give people more energy and strength,
which can be a good thing if their stress is caused by physical danger.

This document summarizes an anger management workshop presented by Prof. Abha Singh. The workshop aims to help students understand and control anger through techniques like relaxation, rational emotive therapy, distraction methods, and ancient wisdom from texts like the Bhagavad Gita and Atharva Veda. Key points discussed include defining anger and differentiating it from other emotions, understanding constructive and destructive aspects of anger, and learning anger management techniques to safely express anger in healthy ways.
Every year, we spend millions of dollars on healthcare and beauty systems. Our days begin with teeth brushing, hair combing, and perhaps even exercise. Even if there are still many who need persuading or incentivizing towards participating in such routines, there is a general consensus that these self-care rituals are good for us.
But when it comes to our emotional health, we are taught from a young age to “get over” our feelings, and yet in reality most of us just stockpile them, carrying their weight throughout life.
Emotional Obesity will teach you how to become aware of our feelings and to subscribe to the habit of daily rituals for our emotional health, just as we have for our physical health.

Physical fitness refers to the ability to perform daily activities without fatigue and is comprised of five main components: muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Exercise is key to maintaining physical fitness as it provides numerous physical, mental/emotional, and social benefits such as stronger muscles, better heart and lung function, stress relief, and social interaction.
The document discusses anger management and controlling anger. It notes that the Bible says feeling anger is akin to murder. Anger is a signal that something is wrong but does not solve problems. There are three options when confronting anger: reacting angrily, becoming aware of your feelings, or controlling your intensity. Major causes of anger include dependency issues, resentment, grief, victim mentality, and abuse. The document provides ten steps for controlling anger, such as making a list of anger triggers, talking about your feelings, breathing exercises, and changing negative thoughts. Myths about anger include that it must be expressed or it will explode, while facts are that anger occurs on a spectrum and does not work like steam in a kettle.
The document provides tips for managing anger in 3 or fewer sentences. It suggests knowing yourself, thinking ahead to avoid urgent problems, and learning from mistakes rather than getting angry. Prioritizing important tasks, organizing your mind and workspace, saying sorry at the right time, and using short periods of time productively can help reduce anger. Controlling one's temper when angry and being polite even to those of lower status also help manage anger.
This document discusses the seventh habit of sharpening the saw from Stephen Covey's 7 Habits. It emphasizes the importance of self-renewal in four dimensions: physical, spiritual, mental, and social/emotional. Regular exercise, spiritual reflection, continuous learning, and spending quality time with others are some of the key aspects of sharpening the saw discussed in the document. The goal of habit 7 is to maintain balance and grow in all areas of our lives through ongoing renewal and improvement.

AbstractThis informative report focuses on filling information.docxbartholomeocoombs
Abstract
This informative report focuses on filling information gaps regarding adherence to physical activity and exercise in the health care spectrum of older adults and an overview of the benefits of physical activity for OAs. Healthy People 2000, 2010, and 2020 are public health programs from the US Department of Health and Human Services that set national goals and objectives for promoting health and preventing disease. The programs include ten leading health indicators that reflect major health problems, which concern OAs. Exercise and physical activity are among the most important factors affecting health and longevity, but exercise adherence is a significant hindrance in achieving health goals in the elderly. Exercise adherence in OAs is a multifactorial problem encompassing many bio-psychosocial factors. Factors affecting adherence in the elderly include socioeconomic status, education level, living arrangements, health status, pacemakers, physical fitness, and depression. Improving adherence could have a significant impact on longevity, quality of life, and health care costs.
Keywords: Geriatric Medicine, Health Care, Health Professionals, Exercise Adherence
Introduction
Geriatric health care delivery is a major public health issue. Geriatrics refers to diagnosing and treating older adults (OA) with complex medical conditions and social problems. A recent report from the World Health Organization (WHO) stated, “OA are generally defined according to a range of characteristics including chronological age, change in social role and changes in functional capabilities. In high-resourced countries older age is generally defined in relation to retirement from paid employment and receipt of a pension, at 60 or 65 years. With increasing longevity some countries define a separate group of oldest people, those over 85 years. In low-resourced countries with shorter life-spans, older people may be defined as those over 50 years” (World Health Organization, 2010a). OA are the largest and fastest growing segment of the population, which present significant challenges to the health care system. Understanding the factors contributing to the health practices of OA is important for professionals, paraprofessionals, and paid and unpaid caregivers who need basic and continuing geriatric education to improve care. Adherence to physical activity and exercise programs is a critical but poorly understood area for promoting health and longevity.
The terms physical activity and exercise are often used interchangeably, but they are different. Physical activity involves movement produced by skeletal muscles that require energy from metabolism. It is grouped as occupational, sports, conditioning, household, or other activities. Exercise is a subset of physical activity that is planned, structured, and repetitive. It promotes health, fitness, and skill and the results of the program can be measured with specific tests (Caspersen, Powell, & Christenson, 1985; F.
This study analyzed the indirect effects of motivation quality on the relationship between psychological need satisfaction and emotional response to exercise. 904 fitness club members completed surveys on needs, motivation, and emotions. Analysis found that satisfaction of needs like competence increased autonomous motivation and decreased controlled motivation, thereby indirectly increasing positive well-being and decreasing psychological distress in response to exercise. Satisfaction of needs related to higher autonomous motivation and better emotional experiences with exercise.

Fatigue is a common and debilitating symptom of multiple sclerosis (MS). The document discusses primary and secondary causes of MS-related fatigue and reviews evidence that exercise can help reduce fatigue. It finds that exercise, particularly balance training, has a moderate beneficial effect on fatigue compared to no exercise. However, the optimal type, dose, and mechanisms of how exercise impacts fatigue remain unclear and more research is needed to provide definitive guidance. Barriers to exercise for people with MS include fatigue itself as well as physical ability, variability in symptoms, fear, and accessibility issues.
This document reviews the evidence for claims that physical activity and exercise have positive effects on mental health. It finds the strongest evidence suggests physical activity and exercise can alleviate symptoms of mild to moderate depression. The evidence also suggests physical activity and exercise may provide benefits as an adjunct for alcoholism and substance abuse programs, and can improve self-image, social skills, and cognitive functioning. However, the effects on mental disorders like schizophrenia are unclear. More research is needed to fully understand the relationships between physical activity, exercise, and mental health.
This document discusses a literature review on the impact of physical activity on medication dosage for patients taking antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications. Several studies are summarized that show physical activity can reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety and may decrease the need for medication. The PICOT question asks how daily physical activity compared to a sedentary lifestyle affects medication dosage over one year for patients currently prescribed these medications. The background provides evidence that exercise positively impacts mental health through neurotransmitter release and reducing harmful immune chemicals.
This document distinguishes between moderate and vigorous physical activity, defining each by calories burned per minute and MET levels. It provides guidelines for weekly amounts of each, and examples of activities that fall under moderate or vigorous intensity. The document also discusses appropriate levels of intensity for different demographics and lists pros and cons of both moderate and vigorous physical activity relating to physical and psychological health. It concludes that physical activity benefits everyone, while vigorous intensity is best for advanced exercisers.
A Study of Heart Rate Recovery Following Exercise in Healthy Young Adult MaleIOSR Journals
Abstract: Exercise has positive chronotropic effect on heart rate and on cessation heart rate returns to preexercise
level. A delay in heart rate recovery (HRR) (≤12beats in first minute) is considered abnormal and
reflects autonomic dysfunction. The present study was taken up to find out the presence of abnormal HRR in
normal subjects (Male) and to establish HRR as an independent autonomic marker. For the study 106 healthy
young adults (male) were subjected to exercise by Bicycle ergometer till targeted Heart Rate (85%Maximum
Heart Rate(MHR)) was achieved. HRR at the end of 1 minutefollowingcessation of exercise were tabulated. In
our study 23(21.7%) subjects showed Abnormal HRR indicating HRR could be an independent autonomic
marker. Keyword-HRR, MHR

Effects of Strength Training in Multiple sclerosis patientsDaniel Yazbek
1) A systematic review of 4 randomized controlled trials investigating the effects of progressive resistance training (PRT) in patients with multiple sclerosis found that PRT can improve muscle strength and size.
2) Meta-analysis of the 3 studies measuring leg strength showed a significant mean increase in strength for patients undergoing PRT compared to controls.
3) While the studies had some limitations, overall they provide evidence that PRT can provide health benefits for MS patients and help increase muscle strength and size. Larger and higher quality studies are still needed.
This document summarizes a presentation on shaping evidence-based social policy for people with disabilities through sport. It finds that while evidence confirms benefits of physical activity for health, evidence for using sport specifically is limited. Studies have narrow ranges of disabilities, interventions, and outcomes, and variable quality. Limitations include underpowered studies, few representing many disabilities, and lack of consistent definitions or theoretical frameworks. Current trends favor lifestyle outcomes and proactive policies. Recommendations include better defining sport as a health intervention, using common frameworks, prioritizing underrepresented groups, and identifying factors affecting sport participation.
Abstract— Lack of sufficient physical activity is the second most important contributor to preventable deaths trailing only to tobacco use. So an interventional study was conducted on University students to study effect of sports with Blood Pressure & HRV. Comparison was made between Non exercise control group (n=31) and exercise group (n=31). Exercise group had an intervention of atleast 60 minutes of various sports of moderate to vigorous intensity daily for one year. Various variables of Blood Pressure & HRV were assessed in both the groups and compared by student unpaired 't' test. It was observed in this study that Exercise group had significantly lowered SBP, DBP, MABP. Although there was no significant difference in both the group in frequency domain of HRV but in time domain RR Intervel was significantly lowered in exercise group thanthe other group. So it can be concluded that one hour of Sports intervention significantly decreased Resting Systolic, Diastolic and Mean Arterial Blood Pressure and significantly decreased Resting Heart Rate this indicates a good interplay or modulation between parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system. So these sports activities should be motivated in college students by including in their daily curricular activities.
COMPARATIVE STUDY OF SLOW AND FAST SURYANAMASKAR ON PHYSIOLOGICAL FUNCTIONYogacharya AB Bhavanani
Numerous scientific studies have reported beneficial physiological changes after short and long term yoga training. Suryanamaskar is an integral part of modern yoga training and may be performed either in a slow or rapid manner. As there are few studies on suryanamaskar we conducted this study to study differential effect of 6 months training in the fast and slow versions. 42 school children in the age group of 12 to 16 were randomly divided into two groups of 21 each. Group I and Group II received 6 months training in performance of slow suryanamaskar (SSN) and fast suryanamaskar (FSN) respectively. Training in SSN produced a significant decrease in diastolic pressure. In contrast, training in FSN produced a significant increase in systolic pressure. Although there was a highly significant increase in hand grip strength and hand grip endurance in both the groups, the increase in hand grip endurance in FSN group was significantly more than in SSN group. MIP and MEP increased significantly in both groups and the increase of MIP in the FSN group was more significant as compared to SSN. Training in SSN reduced the resting diastolic pressure and rate-pressure-product, which, indicates a decrease in load on the heart. In contrast, FSN increased diastolic pressure and rate-pressure-product. The present study shows suryanamaskar has positive physiological benefits as evidenced by changes in pulmonary function, respiratory pressures, handgrip strength, handgrip endurance and resting cardiovascular parameters. It also demonstrates that there are differences between performance of suryanamaskar in a slow and fast manner and that the effects of FSN are similar to physical aerobic exercises whereas the effects of SSN are similar to those of Yoga training.
This document reviews the literature on the mental health benefits of physical activity. It discusses how physical activity has been shown to improve symptoms of depression and other mental illnesses when used as a treatment. Regular physical activity may also help prevent future episodes of depressive illness. However, studies on the association between physical activity and mental health are limited and the relationship may depend on the intensity and type of physical activity. Overall, the literature demonstrates that physical activity can support mental health, but more research is still needed.

The Netherlands are in Group D in Euro Cup Germany - and, unpaid to this, they will be coming up against familiar foes. Remarkably, they have played France, who have fashioned some of the greatest players of all time, 30 times throughout history. Despite France being more effective in major competitions, including captivating the World Cup in 2018, Holland have the greater head-to-head record.

However, in 2023, they played one another twice, with France endearing both matches 4-0 and 2-1 individually. Against Poland and Austria, the Netherlands also have a stout record, winning just under half the matches. They faced Austria at Euro 2020, engaging 2-0, and they haven't lost to Poland since 1979.
The lettering is on the wall for Holland to qualify for the knockouts, but nothing is failsafe. The Netherlands kickstart their Euros campaign against Poland on Sunday, June 16th. In Hamburg, they will have to go up against one of the best strikers in the world, Robert Lewandowski.
Netherlands vs Austria: Tough Challenges Await the Netherlands in Euro Cup Germany
Five days later, they travel south to face France in Leipzig, a side led by Kylian Mbappe - one of the finest players in the world currently and one of the most impressive players in his nation's history. To conclude, they face Austria in Berlin, knowing it could be the end of the road if they don't perform.
Ronald Koeman is widely considered one of the more successful Dutch managers in Premier League history, considering the nation has a reputation for struggling to replicate their talents in England. The former Everton manager went against that script and shone — and now he is back managing his nation.

Netherlands vs Austria: Ronald Koeman's Tactical Approach For UEFA Euro 2024
As well as being the highest-scoring defender in history, Koeman is a man with immense tactical knowledge. He returned to manage Holland at the start of 2023 after it was announced Louis van Gaal would retire. His life back in the dugout with the team wasn't easy, as he lost his first match 4-0 to France after going 3-0 down within 21 minutes.
However, he eventually helped them qualify for Euro Cup Germany. The 61-year-old likes to organize his team with a defensive mindset. Some might call it pragmatic as he defends with minimal space between the lines, but that's often needed for international football.

Even if it means they miss the opening Euro Cup Germany stages of the European Championship in Germany this month. Veteran defender Jan Vertonghen, midfielder Youri Tielemans and defender Arthur. Theate are being given time to play in the tournament because they are considered vital to Belgium’s cause, Tedesco said on Tuesday.

"Of course, you prefer to take players who are fully fit, but that's okay. We want to wait and be patient for some players even if they cannot play in those first matches," he told a press conference. The 37-year-old Vertonghen, Belgium’s Euro Cup 2024 most-capped international with 154 appearances, is struggling to shake off a groin injury.
"He will be there normally. This also applies to Youri Tielemans and Arthur Theate. The latter's position is very sensitive. We don't have many choices at left back. "It will only change if it turns out that they will only be available when, say, the final of the Euro 2024 Championship comes around. That's too long to wait. "However, I am confident that the injured boys are on track for the Euros.
Belgium vs Romania: Radu Dragusin Prepares for Crucial Role in Euro Cup Germany
Some of them have taken not one but two steps forward in their rehabilitation," he said. None of the injured players will feature in this week’s warm-up friendlies against Montenegro and Luxembourg. Romania centre-back Radu Dragusin found chances limited at Tottenham Hotspur in the second half of the 2023-24 season.
But is crucial to his country's cause at UEFA Euro 2024 where his aerial ability, physicality and hard graft make him a standout player. The 22-year-old moved to North London from Italian side Genoa in January but was kept on the sidelines by the form of another new arrival for the season, Mickey van de Ven, something Romania coach Edward Iordanescu admitted was a concern.
It will mean limited game-time going into the finals, but Dragusin, who cites Netherlands defender Virgil van Dijk as a role model, started every Euro Cup Germany qualifier as Romania went through the campaign unbeaten in their 10 games. He will be among their most important players in their first game in Germany against Ukraine in Munich on June 17, taking the right centre-back role in what is likely to be a back four.

Methods
Exercise frequency/intensity, BPN satisfaction, motivational regulations and
emotional response (Positive/Negative Affect (PA/NA); Psychological Well-
being/Distress (PWB/PD)) were measured through self-report in 807 health
club members (40.50±13.54 yrs) averaging 2.61±1.29 exercise sessions/week.
Serial multiple mediation models were used to evaluate the predictive value
of exercise and motivational variables on the emotional response.
Frequency and intensity are associated with stronger emotional responses. This is partially explained by BPN satisfaction and
motivational regulations. Autonomous regulation plays an important role in the quality of exercise experience. Results refer to the
importance of the development of need-supportive contexts in order to facilitate a better emotional response in exercise thus
facilitating continuous adherence.
It is well know that physical exercise plays an important role in the promotion of health. It appears that the optimal benefits
occur when exercise is done regularly and at an appropriate intensity (Garber et al., 2011). However, research indicates that
people seem to struggle to reach the international recommendations for the warranted effects (USDHHS, 2008). Recent reports
point that health club’s activities are one the biggest sport related industries, with an average of 140 million club members
worldwide (IHRSA, 2014). At this scale, the research and understanding of ways to enhance the quality of practice and health
outcomes is an important concern.
The study analyzed the indirect effects basic
psychological needs (BPN) satisfaction and
motivational regulations in the relationship
between exercise frequency, intensity and
emotional response to exercise.
