My role involved continuous training to

My role was organisational in various posts,
such as Finance officer for the UK and as local
area youth president . Handling organisation
of members and events.

Currently I'm the Wessex Young panel
secretary. Working together with the
other volunteers we meet up and go to
engineering based excursions. It offers
young engineers the opportunity to
network and meet other professionals
working towards accreditation to become
chartered or incorporated. This role also
includes Lectures and talks on current
challenges faced by the engineering
sector.
First role as member of brake design team. Role included designing and FEA
testing the brake discs. The design process included material selection and
sourcing manufacturers. I took part in the Manufacturing period building the car
ready for the event. While on placement I have done a Few drawings for the
team as this was encouraged by my supervisor.
Technical skills : Developed CAD skills – Hands on assembly – Part Drawings –
FEA Analysis – Material Research – Brake disc design research – Working with
composites.

My role at Coopervision I have had a chance to see Industrial Applications of Engineering in a non
engineering sector (Medical Instruments). Having to work to guidelines set by the FDA on projects
that have been assigned to me. Working with the production engineers to improve processes on
the line. Going to meetings to understand the process taken to make changes to lines, how they
are validated. Shadowing the design team I have had the chance to see some of the utility buildings
and machinery and how these are adapted to be used with the product the company uses. Working
with Production engineers the team helps identify the source causing defects.

tight tolerances – engineering Drawings – Working with BS8888 drawings – Designing for a
manufacturing line – Adapting machinery to manufacture different products

I am currently part of a maker space in southampton that is allowing me to network with
Technology enthusiasts working on different projects. By joining I get to study
electronics while working close to members well versed in it. Currently working towards
chartership by completing the Engtech application then gaining more experience.
Currently I am working on a mechatronics project that is a 6 degree of freedom simulator.
The complexity is challenging so encourages a lot of reading and understanding.
