Career Profile
Enthusiastic and friendly, with a keen eye for detail and quality. Trained to a high and discerning
standard on several varied practical techniques. During my degree, I have worked with larger teams
on more detailed projects, honed my time management to work efficiently on several assignments at
once, and built the essential knowledge and experience of design tools which will allow me to work
on the creation of systems. Knowledge and experience of repair provides me with an invaluable
insight into the life cycle of a product once it is in practical use - advantageous to a company
wanting to create robust and repairable systems, built to last. Looking for a similarly enthusiastic
and result-driven team working environment.
Education
2013–present Masters Degree in Avionics, University of York, Predicted a high 2:1.
Modules cover areas such as Analogue Electronics, Digital Electronics (including programming
and communications) and a main focus on Control Engineering.
Flight Control Understand and describe fundamental behaviour of longitudinal and
lateral dynamics in fixed-wing aircraft; apply control systems analysis and design methods
in formulation and implementation of simple flight control laws.

Design and Construction Work in teams of 6. Analyse product requirements; derive
specifications; design and construct the product; demonstrate knowledge in reports and
presentations; understand the problems associated with environmental issues relating to
product design, including low power design.

Software Engineering (SWEng) Group project of 9 people. Created a pseudo-company
"Woolly Hat Software"; created a presentation software with which to advertise optional
academic modules. During this task, I was Marketing Manager, involving the creation,
distribution and evaluation of surveys and marketing materials. Also worked with the
rest of the team on quality assurance, company liaising and XML coding. My personal
feedback included "Robyn was a very effective Marketing Manager... [she] has done
an excellent job... The marketing surveys are extremely well formulated, analysed and
discussed, leading to sensible... informative conclusions to aid product development."
Overall result 76%

Founding member, involved in advertising the society to students and writing to companies
for information on their "Women in Engineering" groups.

Run events in which we go into Primary Schools to talk about how amazing and diverse
Engineering can be. Studies have shown that children need to have a vague knowledge of
engineering before they’re 11 to improve the chances that they will pursue it as a career. I
have (so far) taught four sessions in primary schools.
