2. What are singular and plural
possessive nouns?
Possessive nouns are used to show the
possession of a person or thing. They are used
as adjectives in a sentence.

3. Singular possessives
Singular possessives always gets an ‘s. If your
name ends in a million “s”s , you still need to
put an ‘s.

4. Plural Nouns That End With S
To make most nouns plural you add an S to the
end. Ex:
Noun Plural
mocking jay mocking jays
berry berries

5. Plurals with S
You use an ‘ AFTER S on the end of a plural
noun.
EX:
Mocking jays’
Braids’

6. Plural Noun That Does Not End In S
Some nouns are special and their plural form
does not contain S. Ex:
Noun Plural
Child Children
Mouse Mice
This is how you make singular nouns into plural
nouns.

7. Plural nouns that stay the same
Some singular nouns do have the same spelling
as their plural form.

Fish Fish
Moose Moose
Sheep Sheep

8. Plural Nouns that do not end in S
Use ‘s to show possession with a plural noun
with no s. Never add s’ to an already plural
noun with no S.

9. Continuous S with ‘
When a word has more than one syllable and ends
in an S, only an ‘ is needed.
EX: Texas’s state law is annoying. (wrong)
Texas’ state law is annoying. (correct)
