2. About The
Internship
KSLA has a rich history in the Ark-LA-Tex starting in
1954 as the first television station in Shreveport. I was
fortunate enough to be able to intern with the Sales
Department at the station. The intensive program
taught me a wealth of knowledge about the television
business, that will certainly be a resource for a career
in the advertising field, whether it is directly in
television or not.

TV Sales.101 is a 13 DVD training program designed
for television sales Account Executives and Sales
Managers. The series is full of tips, tools, and ideas to
increase sales and ensure customer relations.
Through KSLA, I was able to complete this training
series and gain knowledge of the best practices in
the television industry, as well as learning about
different industries and finding the best method of
advertisement for them.

Gaming
Nitro Gaming is a local company that operates several casinos
in the area. The purchase advertising on a month to month
basis and alternate two casinos on KSLA a month and the other
two casinos on Bounce TV that month. KSLA produced a
“Donut Spot” for Nitro Gaming, so each month they can change
the promotion in the middle of the spot and leave everything
else the same. I was able to work with Katherine Hebert and
see the entire process from the proposal the the completed
spots for November.

Working with AE Lauren Swift, I we meet with a
client, identify their needs in advertising and put
together a proposal based on their demographic
and desired programs to ensure they were able to
reach their audience.

La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery completes their advertising
buy on an annual basis, depending on the promotions
they are running throughout the year. Based on the
clients needs, we needed to add more three more works
from the previous year. We looked at their 2013 buy and
formulated a 2014 proposal adding the weeks the client
wanted, as well as ensuring we were reaching their
desired demographics.
