Population Trends In Canada
Examining population trends can help Canada in regards to planning for the future, particularly within the health field. Looking at the population
pyramids, a large portion of Canadas population are older adults. (Clarke, 2016). It is also known that a large portion of older adults reside within their
own homes, "92.1% lived in private households...while 7.9% lived in collective dwellings" (Statistics Canada, 2011). Why it is though that living
within one's home seems to be the common trend? Perhaps living within a familiar community and neighborhood contributes to this choice. As older

An article that looked at patients within hospitals in Ontario found that, about ten percent of patients waiting for a spot in long term care facility waited
well over a year (Kondro, 2010). Therefore, it is known that more long term care and community dwellings for older adults are needed. Although, the
constructions of more residences for older adults is important, location needs to be a priority when building these facilities. For the health of the older
population, new residences need to be built within communities and neighborhoods. This will provide smoother transition into new living citations with
less stress. Staying within communities would allow for familiarity; having one's family doctors being a short distance away, access public
transportation, having the opportunity to continue attending activities such as religious services. Also, remaining in one's community may allow for

Community Volunteering
I have made a difference in my community by volunteering for many organizations. To start, I have participated in the Lisbon Community Band and
provided musical entertainment for the community to enjoy free of charge. Each year, my town band has a winter and summer concert. These concerts
include a new set of songs for the community to hear. Music relaxes the mind and is believed to have certain healing properties. I have been in my

These were beneficial to not just the community, but to anyone who was set to receive blood transfusions for medical reasons. As a Boy Scout, we
also aided other organizations, such as the Lisbon Historical Society. Furthermore, my troop assisted in running events, such as my town's fall
festival. My community extends to other parts of the state, as I have volunteered for organizations in nearby towns. One such organization that I
volunteer at is the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. I volunteer in the summers in the Lawrence and Memorial Lobby shop gift
shop. I feel I am able to make a difference in the life of those who come into the gift shop. Specifically, I attempt to bring smiles to the faces of the
customers and make their experience in the gift shop enjoyable. Another organization I volunteer for is the Slater Library in Jewett City. One summer
I developed a reading and science experiment program that lasted for many weeks and motivated children to read, as well as become interested in the

One year before Hurricane Katrina, it was reported that 4,663 of the 14,008 worked within the neighborhood. As 2011, 1192 which was about half
the population worked in the neighborhood. The majority of the current jobs within the neighborhood are located on the boundary line of St. Claude.
Others are employed in nearby neighborhoods such as the upper ninth ward, and bear by parish of St. Bernard. These jobs are mostly minimum
wage with 27.9% of the 2011 population earning less than $1250 a month which is a decrease from the 42% of the 2004 population. 50.6% earn up
to $3,333 and 68.7% above the poverty line as of 2012 (Lower Ninth Ward Statistical Area).
There are a few active signs of the building of new business. The 31.3% poverty of the population shows evidences that there is still a need for
services, employment, and resources for this community. Research shows that since Mitch Landrieu took office in 2010, funding for construction
projects increase with Lower Ninth Ward first on its list. The funding was as follows: $60 million for street repairs, $50 million for rebuilding schools
and $14.5 million for a new community center. As of 2012 there was little sign of new construction for this neighborhood (Parker, 2012). However,

After the Industrial Revolution, the idea of family and home went through a significant transformation. Many businesses went from being very
family–oriented and personal to anonymous and profit–oriented. Compounded with issues of institutional racism, poverty, and poor education, there
was a growing controversy with the use of streets in the city. Jennifer Tilton, writer of Cruising Down the Boulevard discusses the rhetorical and
institutional harms towards youth being in public and private property while Ulf Hannerz analyzes different subsets of Urban Studies and how they can

In 2012, the Whittier Alliance released a strategic plan for the next five years that pinpointed critical steps towards increasing commercial activity and
housing investments, raising environmental standards, and improving the Alliance's organizational structure. Could the adoption of a Private
Neighborhood Association (PNA), as presented by the Mercatus Policy Series , support these steps? In my opinion, a full PNA will not move the

To Locke, he explains how property is something given from God. He also explains how the people should have a right to property in the State of

text. Lastly, he finds a kind of solution to the limitations in the forms of a money economy and Political Society. This thesis will argue that property

focusing on the common good and how the people are the ones that should make changes. To fully understand what Locke is claiming, the idea of
Natural Rights must first be defined. In the Second Treatise, these rights are those that everyone is born with, in the State of Nature. The State of
Nature, which is a place of perfect freedom, a man is naturally equal, reasonable, and free. This state is also protected by the Law of Nature which

Everyone comes to having a right to all the fruits of the earth because we are all born equal. That being said, everyone owns only their own person,

and work of our hands. What makes property our own is when we work with the state of nature and everything that has been provided from God

Community Maintenance Plan Paper
Revitalizing our neighborhoods is as important as getting people into homes. Broken neighborhoods with streets in need of repair, limited access to
shopping areas, few job opportunities, and despair seeping around every corner is not good for either individuals or communities.
I plan on using the Year of Giving as part of the plan to combat this. Our nation's youth will go into these areas and clean them up, plant gardens, and
help support new services that I hope to bring to each of these areas.
These communities will also be given priority in city maintenance plans. Targeting issues, such as repairing roads, water and sewer services, mass
transit, and upgrading the electrical systems for more solar and wind initiatives.
Getting jobs into these neighborhoods is also important. And the best way to do that is to encourage small businesses to set up shop in these areas.
Low interest loans and other considerations will be given to people who wish to open a business, with priority given to those who are residents of that
community.
I would like to see city planners work with local residents to bring the kind of services and businesses each community needs to thrive. Using local,

Most residents rent their homes, because people are always coming and leaving Rochester. Most people only stay in Rochester to save up money so
thy can move to a better community like Greece, Pittsford or Henrietta. Faith based organization are very active n the community. They are always
having a food drive, clothes give away and church services in the street. Churches are always looking to recruit resident into their religion. Churches
hope that if thy can get a person to believe in their religion that people will turn away from their sins and do better in life. Business and property
owners do not spend a lot of their time in Rochester or even keeping up their property in Rochester. Business and property owners spend most of their
time and money in other community's. Most business and property owners own property in Rochester and multiple other community's. I have never
came across any business person or propty management who only has a business I the community. The reason that they have several business is because
a person could not live off of the money that they would bring in if they only had business in my community. There are not a lot of resources so
resident spend their money in other community's that have the resources that they need. Most resident are on social services such as section 8 and other
welfare services. We do not have an headquarters for social services in my community it is in Pittsford, which is thirty eight miles away from my
community. Most residents do not drive, so in order to get to the headquarters residents would have to get on fours buses just to get to the office. Larger
institutions and community organization profit in the community. McDonald and Burger king always have business in their stores. Community
organizations are not after money, but they are after volunteers. Most people that volunteer do not live in the community, they live in better

The 31.3% poverty of the population shows evidences that there is still a need for services, employment, and resources for this community. Research shows that since Mitch Landrieu took office in 2010, funding for construction projects increase with Lower Ninth Ward first on its list. The funding was as follows: $60 million for street repairs, $50 million for rebuilding schools and $14.5 million for a new community center. As of 2012 there was little sign of new construction for this neighborhood (Parker, 2012).
