This document defines and classifies polynomials according to their degree and number of terms. It explains that a polynomial is an algebraic expression with non-negative integer exponents, and is made up of terms separated by plus and minus signs. The degree of a polynomial is determined by the highest variable exponent or the sum of exponents in each term. Polynomials are classified as monomials (one term), binomials (two terms), trinomials (three terms), or multinomials (four or more terms). Constant polynomials have no variables.
