The sword is the oldest historic bladed weapon.It 
was necessary at the ceremonies of coronation and 
knighting.Characterized by a simple handle(I), 
usually double-edged and long hilt(II). Swords were 
used unil the 16th century.
It is the coronation sword of Polish kings, one of the most 
valuable relics. Szczerbiec was built probably in Poland at the 
end of the 12th century. Szczerbiec was jagged when King 
Boleslaw the Brave hit with the sword the Golden Gate of Kiev 
in 1018 while entering.
On 15th July 1410 there was the biggest battle of medieval 
Europe between the Teutonic Order and the combined forces of 
the Polish and Lithuanian. Two naked swords were transferred 
to the King of Poland and Grand Duke 
of Lithuania by the heralds of the Grand 
Master of the Teutonic Order Ulrich 
von Jungingen. Handing swords 
was a symbolic excuse to start 
the Battle of Grunwald.

of Polish-Austrian-German and the army of the Ottoman 
Empire. It ended with the defeat of the Ottomans, who has gone 
to the defensive and no longer posed a threat to Christian 
Europe. Allied German-Moldovan cavalry stopped their horses 
to admire the power of the

A lance is a basic weapon of Polish Hussars. 
It was a long stick ended with a metal blade. 
The lance was 6,2m of length. It was also 
very ecpensive, bought by the king not 
Hussars. In 1660 a single hit of the hussar 
lance broke down 6 Russian infantymen.
Wings were designed to intimidate the 
opponents’ horses and cause fear in the 
enemy units. They were made of 
feathers of eagle and hawk.
Horses were so high, rugged and fast that after a long march and 
carring on the back approximately the rider and 100 kg of 
equpment and weapons they could go straight away to a battle, 
hit the galop and break the oponent’s lines. A horse cost the 
equivalent of one village, and selling a horse abroad was 
punished by death.
The Polish submarine that was able to dip to the depth of 100 meters. 
ORP Eagle took part in the initial period of World War II, then interned in 
the Estonian capital, managed to escape and break into the UK without 
navigation and maps. It was lost with all the crew during a patrol in late 
May and June 1940.
