Proposals Read out
• SIG Chairs invited the proposal authors to read out their
respective proposals to allow community discussion during
the break and before the proposals are formally presented
in the following SIG sessions for consensus call.
!8
prop-129: Abolish Waiting list for unmet IPv4
requests
• Proposal
• Abolish the current waiting list and once the APNIC receives IPv4
recovered address space from IANA or recovered by themselves
(through closures or returns etc) then it should be treated under the
same policy as last /8 (103/8)

• Status
• Reached consensus in Policy SIG Meeting
!9
prop-128: Multihoming not required for ASN
• Proposal
• To ensure that organizations which have their own routing policy and
the need to interconnect with other organizations, can do it.
• Interconnect is used here with the commonly understood meaning of
establishing a connection between two (administratively) separate
networks.

• Status
• Reached consensus in Policy SIG Meeting
!10
prop-127: Change maximum delegation size
of 103/8 IPv4 address pool to a /23
• Proposal
• This proposal is to change the maximum size of IPv4 address
delegations from the APNIC 103/8 IPv4 address pool to a /23. /23 is
important because new ISPs can use /24 for internal infrastructure
and /24 customer assignments and NAT for IPv6 transition.
• Status
• Reached consensus in Policy SIG Meeting
!11
prop-126: PDP update
• Proposal
• To allow that consensus is determined also looking at the opinions of
community members that are not able to travel to the meetings, adjust
the time required before the relevant SIG to submit the proposals, not
requiring “double” consensus with the APNIC members and
facilitating a simple method for appeals.
• Status
• Did not reached consensus in Policy SIG Meeting
!12
prop-124: Clarification on IPv6 sub-assignments
• Proposal
• This proposal clarifies this situation in this regard and better define
the concept, particularly considering new uses of IPv6 (RFC 8273), by
means of a new paragraph.
• Status
• Did not reached consensus in Policy SIG Meeting

Policy SIG Report

  • 1. Policy SIG Report APNIC Annual General Meeting 28 February, 2019 Chair: Sumon Ahmed Sabir Co-Chairs: Bertrand Cherrier, Ching-Heng Ku
  • 2. Agenda • SIG Chair Election • prop-118: No need policy in APNIC region • prop-125 implementation update • Informational presentation - Modification of transfer policies • Informational presentation - Unadvertised Addresses • Proposals read out • CONFER community consultation • Secretariat proposals assessment report • prop-124: Clarification on IPv6 sub-assignments • prop-126: PDP update • prop-127: Change maximum delegation size of 103/8 IPv4 address pool to a /23 • prop-128: Multihoming not required for ASN • prop-129: Abolish Waiting list for unmet IPv4 requests !2
  • 3. SIG Chair Election • Current Chair Sumon Ahmed Sabir is re-elected as Chair for next two years. There was no other candidate for the election !3
  • 4. Proposals Abandoned • Prop -118: No need policy in APNIC region – Proposal sent back to the authors for further community discussion after APNIC 46 – No further discussion nor support on the mailing list – Author did not submit a revised version !4
  • 5. prop-125: Implementation Update • prop-125: Validation of “abuse-mailbox” and other IRT emails • Implementation timeline • Phase one – estimated completion June 2019 • Includes validation of IRTs associated with parent resource records • New escalation mailbox • Phase two - estimated completion December 2019 • Include non-portable assignments • Resolve any issues encountered during phase one !5
  • 6. Informational Presentation • Modification of transfer policies • By Jordi Palet !6
  • 7. Informational Presentation • Unadvertised addresses • By Geoff Huston !7
  • 8. Proposals Read out • SIG Chairs invited the proposal authors to read out their respective proposals to allow community discussion during the break and before the proposals are formally presented in the following SIG sessions for consensus call. !8
  • 9. prop-129: Abolish Waiting list for unmet IPv4 requests • Proposal • Abolish the current waiting list and once the APNIC receives IPv4 recovered address space from IANA or recovered by themselves (through closures or returns etc) then it should be treated under the same policy as last /8 (103/8)

 • Status • Reached consensus in Policy SIG Meeting !9
  • 10. prop-128: Multihoming not required for ASN • Proposal • To ensure that organizations which have their own routing policy and the need to interconnect with other organizations, can do it. • Interconnect is used here with the commonly understood meaning of establishing a connection between two (administratively) separate networks.
 • Status • Reached consensus in Policy SIG Meeting !10
  • 11. prop-127: Change maximum delegation size of 103/8 IPv4 address pool to a /23 • Proposal • This proposal is to change the maximum size of IPv4 address delegations from the APNIC 103/8 IPv4 address pool to a /23. /23 is important because new ISPs can use /24 for internal infrastructure and /24 customer assignments and NAT for IPv6 transition. • Status • Reached consensus in Policy SIG Meeting !11
  • 12. prop-126: PDP update • Proposal • To allow that consensus is determined also looking at the opinions of community members that are not able to travel to the meetings, adjust the time required before the relevant SIG to submit the proposals, not requiring “double” consensus with the APNIC members and facilitating a simple method for appeals. • Status • Did not reached consensus in Policy SIG Meeting !12
  • 13. prop-124: Clarification on IPv6 sub-assignments • Proposal • This proposal clarifies this situation in this regard and better define the concept, particularly considering new uses of IPv6 (RFC 8273), by means of a new paragraph. • Status • Did not reached consensus in Policy SIG Meeting !13
