1. Outline why schools have policies and procedures
Policies can define set of rules, regulations, procedures, documents,
principles, obligations and protocols for schools. These are necessary to
help a school run smoothly and safely and ensure that students receive a
quality education. policies guide us and help keep the school environment
safe for students, teachers and staff. School policies also help create a
productive learning environment, without school policies there may be a
lack of good quality learning and safety.policies must always comply with
legislation.
2. A procedures is a guideline or series of steps to follow the rules. The
school builds the policy based on the legislation, within that policy, it will
include the procedure they need to be taken to follow those laws
.Procedures are designed to provide an easy understanding for
governors, parents, staff, Ofsted inspectors, and Local Education
Authority officers.
3. Identify two (2) policies and procedures schools have
1.Attendance policy
2.E-safety policy
4. Attendance policy
The Education Act 1996 states that all pupils should attend school regularly and punctually. ‘If a child of compulsory
school age, who is a registered pupil at a school fails to attend regularly at the school, his parent is guilty of an offence.
The school has a legal duty to mark the register and record the attendance of every child on its roll and to explain why
children are absent or late.
Head Teacher regularly reports on attendance and punctuality as part of the Full Governing Body.Authorised absences
involve children having time out of school for approved reasons, for example: illness, medical appointments, religious
observance, visits to a new school or exceptional 3 circumstances like attending a funeral.Parent must give clear
explanation and the purpose of children taking leave.
Arrival at School: The school gates will open at 8.45 am ,child should be in school by 9:00 am for the start of the school
day. The school gates will close at 9:00 am and if you arrive after 9.00 am children must enter the school via the school
office. If child comes into school after 9:05 am onward, you will be asked to sign the late book. If your child arrives
between 9.05 am – 9.15 am they will be marked late. If your child arrives after 9.15 am they will receive an unauthorised
absence mark. When children arrive after 9.15 am, parents are expected to send a note to explain the reasons for
lateness.
Attendance policy can reduce the children absence,Punctuality is important because it makes us disciplined, They will be
able to keep up with their work and they will achieve better results.
5. E-safety policy
The main purpose this policy children should get knowledge and understand how
they can report for abuse, misuse, misbehaviour, taking inappropriate contain in
online and how they have to react , where they have to report. If Children and
young people follow the e-safety policy ,they can reduce the risk from online. E-
safety policy teach the children and young people how to use internet
safely.Should understand the importance of adopting good e-safety practice when
using digital technologies out of school and realise that the school’s E-Safety
Policy covers their actions out of school.
