This communication works in a synergistic manner with various acceleration models that include inline, lookaside or remotely triggered ones. Bringing this technology to the HPC ecosystem for deployment on next-generation Exascale class systems however requires exposing these capabilities to applications in terms that are familiar to software developers. In this regard, the lack of a standardized software interface that applications can use is an impediment to the deployment of Smart NIC/FPGA in Exascale platforms. We propose extensions to OFI to expose these capabilities. This would improve the performance of middleware based on this interface. And in turn, this will indirectly benefit applications that use that middleware without requiring any application changes. Participants will learn about the potential for Smart NIC/FPGA application acceleration and will have the opportunity to contribute application expertise and domain knowledge to a discussion of how Smart NIC/FPGA acceleration technology can bring individual applications into the Exascale era."

The resulting multi-chip module (MCM) silicon can be produced at significantly lower development and manufacturing costs, and will deliver much needed performance per watt and performance per dollar efficiencies in networking, security, machine learning and other applications. The ODSA Workgroup also intends to deliver implementations of the specification as board-level prototypes, RTL code and libraries.
1. Logically split the work between those responsible for the device tree binding, any framework changes, the driver code, and DTS additions.
2. Create git commits for the device tree binding, driver implementation, and DTS changes in a logical series.
3. Post the commit series to the appropriate mailing lists after addressing any feedback, with cover letter, signatures, and CCing maintainers.

KVM/ARM has grown up. While the initial implementation of virtualization support for ARM processors in Linux was a quality upstream software project, there were initial design decisions simply not suitable for a long-term maintained hypervisor code base. For example, the way KVM/ARM utilized the hardware support for virtualization, was by running a ‘switching’ layer of code in EL2, purely written in assembly. This was a reasonable design decision in the initial implementation, as the switching layer only had to do one thing: Switch between a VM and the host. But as we began to optimize the implementation, add support for ARMv8.1 and VHE, and added features such as debugging support, we had to move to a more integrated approach, writing the switching logic in C code as well. As another example, the support for virtual interrupts, famously known as the VGIC, was designed with a focus on optimizing MMIO operations. As it turns out, MMIO operations is a less important and infrequent operation on the GIC, and the design had some serious negative consequences for supporting other state transitions for virtual interrupts and had negative performance implications. Therefore, we completely redesigned the VGIC support, and implemented the whole thing from scratch as a team effort, with a very promising result, upstream since Linux v4.7. In this talk we will cover the evolution of this software project and give an overview of the state of the project as it is today.

An industry standard is required that translates to immediate benefits that will increase stability, capabilities and compatibility among Hadoop distributions. Its also important to include an open data management core with emphasis on making it enterprise focused.
The ODPi is a shared industry effort focused on build such standards and also promoting and advancing the state of Big Data technologies. Linaro is actively involved in this effort and also to make sure ODPi is ARM compatible.

An industry standard is required that translates to immediate benefits that will increase stability, capabilities and compatibility among Hadoop distributions. Its also important to include an open data management core with emphasis on making it enterprise focused.
The ODPi is a shared industry effort focused on build such standards and also promoting and advancing the state of Big Data technologies. Linaro is actively involved in this effort and also to make sure ODPi is ARM compatible.

This document presents a proof of concept for automating tests of a software under test (SUT) using Selenium WebDriver with either Java or JavaScript technologies. It evaluates Selenium with Java using JUnit in Eclipse or with JavaScript using Protractor. Both approaches are found capable of test automation, but Protractor is deemed more suitable since the SUT uses AngularJS and JavaScript is already established for the project. The document describes the environment, setup, features, some initial test cases performed, and concludes that Protractor would achieve better results due to its specificity for AngularJS.

High Availability solutions for MySQL Replication are either simple to use but introduce a single point of failure or free of pitfalls but complex and hard to use. The Proof-of-Concept sketches a way in the middle. For monitoring a group communication system is embedded into MySQL usng a MySQL plugin which eliminates the monitoring SPOF and is easy to use. Much emphasis is put of the often neglected client side. The PoC shows an architecture in which clients reconfigure themselves dynamically. No client deployment is required.

One method that has proven effective and low-risk is to focus on the Proof of Concept stage. This talk outlines the methodology we've used to create proofs of concept that will give products the best chance of success when they're introduced to customers.

Proof of Concept for Hadoop: storage and analytics of electrical time-seriesDataWorks Summit
1. EDF conducted a proof of concept to store and analyze massive time-series data from smart meters using Hadoop.
2. The proof of concept involved storing over 1 billion records per day from 35 million smart meters and running analytics queries.
3. Results showed Hadoop could handle tactical queries with low latency and complex analytical queries within acceptable timeframes. Hadoop provides a low-cost solution for massive time-series storage and analysis.
A proof of concept (POC) involves building a simple version of a product idea to test it with users before fully developing it. A POC should be completed in 1-4 weeks with a small team and focus on core functionality rather than polish. Usability testing the POC with real users provides critical feedback on whether the idea is worth pursuing further. For example, a POC for a stock trading app may include basic login, search, portfolio views, and simulated trading recommendations to get early feedback from potential users.

The Fleet Provisioning & Patching (FPP, formerly RHP) utility, together with the change in its licensing announced at OOW 2019 that makes it free in RAC, now makes it possible to centrally manage the software life cycle.

The HP3070 Data Collector and Analyser (HPDCA) is a suite of applications that collects real-time data from in circuit test (ICT) machines via the HPDC data collector. The HPDC parses log files from ICT machines like HP3070s and stores the test results, such as pass/fail status, measurements, and board information, in a MySQL database. The HPDCA then allows users to generate analytical reports on key metrics from the stored test data through the HPDA data analyser and view the last test results of boards through the LastTestResult application, improving visibility of PCBAs during manufacturing.

Requiring only few changes to your existing source code, OpenACC allows for easy parallelization and code offloading to accelerators such as GPUs. We will present a short introduction of GCC and OpenACC, implementation status, examples, and performance results.
OpenACC is a user-driven directive-based performance-portable parallel programming model designed for scientists and engineers interested in porting their codes to a wide-variety of heterogeneous HPC hardware platforms and architectures with significantly less programming effort than required with a low-level model."

This document summarizes the results of an OLTP performance benchmark test comparing PostgreSQL and Oracle databases. The test used HammerDB to run the same workload against each database on a server with 2x8 core CPUs and 192GB RAM. With 8 vCPUs, Oracle was 2.6% faster, used 16% less CPU, and had 9.3% more transactions per minute than PostgreSQL. When scaled to 16 vCPUs, Oracle was 3.4% faster, used 12.3% less CPU and had 22.43% more transactions per minute.

Multiple awr report parser and analyzer; the idea came to me while running an audit to identify bottlenecks in an Oracle infrastructure composed of two servers with many single instances. Due to lack of available time to do the work, I decided to develop a small utility which would help me to get a quick full picture of the infrastructure load. The customer was not using OEM and nothing was available to consolidate system load. Following positive impact and customer impression, it facilitate the introduction of our in-house tool capman to collect and centralize such interesting key indicators.

To ensure reliable operations, TPF deployed two Oracle Database Appliances in clustered mode with Oracle Active Data Guard for high availability of applications like route planning and vehicle management. The engineered database infrastructure provides scalability, performance, and disaster recovery to support TPF's growing transportation needs in the region.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
